Oh no

Warburtons will prompty file that one in the round basket.

It’s been a good few years since I went to Bath so I’m not familiar with it at all, but looking on Google maps there doesn’t seem to be an alternative route to get to Bath town centre from the east.

Love the comment about if it is empty, it doesn’t matter and weighs at 15 ton, that doesn’t matter , as many who crossed the Bradford-on-Avon bridge found out and the court relieved the operator and driver a few grand.
There is plenty of warning for the Bath bridge, and London Road in Bath is notorious for traffic jams so the diversion is quicker.
I see artics crossing the Bath bridge daily, it tarnishes the industry and reinforces the poor reputation of thick lorry drivers who can’t read a basic instruction or sign .

If I was Mr Warburton I would simply refuse to supply my product to retailers in Bath, unless they collected it from the bakery themselves…

I daresay Mr Blest and his male offspring would welcome such an attitude.
.
But how difficult is it for a professional driver to follow the well signed diversion or find a legal route themselves?
Would we sympathise with a driver who found a low bridge on his route so refused to attempt any delivery?

I love the nimbys, this headline “Huge lorry”

That’s the trouble with bakers, they just don’t stick together.

The traffic is NOT free flowing due to no lorries, the amount of cars queuing from the A36 to the fire station then to access London Road to Batheston is absolutely ridiculous, sat there with their engines running on a pointless journey to buy a pot plant .
Surprisingly they have not used : Thundering menacing juggernaut dangerous killers on the roads that mount pavements mowing down Mothers pushing peaks.
And the old favourite; Get freight on the railways .

Not peaks, I meant prams .

I wish this forum had a like or thank-you button.

Clearly resting “juggernaut” and playing the “giant” card instead. :unamused:

I don’t think a decker is making retail deliveries. My guess is it’s trunking. As the bridge has an 18t limit, there’s no problem sending a rigid or two to supply Mrs Migging sandwich and pies emporium.

The fact the driver didn’t use his “loaf”, may cost Warburtons a lot of “dough”.

I’m here all week.

Ken.

Some folks need to get a life if they climax early or get an erection for taking photos of bad lorries then set up a Twitter account , when this is clearly the job of the police or Trading Standards to enforce the weight limit.

Like how they only take these from way up the road not a actually risking being seen to take them.

Surely if this bridge is that unsafe, it would make sense for the council / trading standards to put a camera there or even an ANPR system? Might deter a few, unless its actually just so the sensitive residents of Bath don’t have to “suffer” lorries rather than a weak bridge.

If a bridge is unsafe, what’s so wrong with erecting prohibition signs and expecting pro drivers to comply?
