Also I will come in on a Sunday for an hour for a 100 sheets to be interviewed.

You should contact bking from on here ,now that will be a 60 min interview worth reading

We got a load of them big uns too but don’t think our company will be too pleased if i park up for an hour chatting unfortunately.
Mind you it’ll be difficult chatting for an hour about a lorry.

Yeah mine’s a big un !!!

60mins that’s a bugger cause anything over 47min the boss wants to know why

I don’t drive 1 anymore, shame as I’d have had no trouble telling how much I preferred the older shape.

I liked the raise head part of bed feature as mentioned before and I liked having the suspension control on the dash, and the Bluetooth was easy to set up and could listen to the music on my phone through it. And the crawler function was quite nice until I realised that sometimes it’ll just roll back  … That’s all.

Changing a headlight bulb (which is required on an alternate daily basis) is a pain the the harris, spring open this, remove 1 torq, flip open that, release 4 more torq - BUT there’s 8 in there, 4 are for altering headlight adjustment so don’t touch them. Then you can finally swing out the light and change the damned bulb, only to repeat the process on the other side 2 days later.

Why is the new engine no good at 800rpm where the old 1 was in the green, why does it keep selecting neutral when I want to drive, why doesn’t it drop gears when I’m braking for a roundabout leaving me hanging in the middle whilst it decides it wants 4 instead of 11, why does the retarder only drop gears when it can be bothered meaning I then have to press the brake pedal.

My 5th wheel wasn’t adjustable either, meaning going over some humps into yards meant my run up bars caught the trailer chassis, sometimes preventing my manoeuvre, sometimes making a racket that I ignored

One is left wondering what all this has to with the cab design, comfort & functionality?

I am looking for drivers of the New Mercedes Actros 4 to help with a bona fide piece of market research… We need to interview 6 drivers who all drive this kind of HGV but it has to be the new design with the curved headlights and a cab width of 2.5 Metres… The interview will last approximately 60 minutes and can be conducted at any location suitable to the driver, so if a driver is on their way back from a run and can stop this would be perfect as we need to conduct the interview in and around the cab…We will provide an incentive of £100 as a thank you. This is fairly urgent as we would like to be able to complete the interviews with in the next couple of weeks. The research is being conducted for a major manufacturer and will be treated as strictly confidential… please contact - Rachel Broxham, KGS Ltd, 01964 535181 or rachel.broxham@kgs.co.uk, Thank you very much!

Your best bet as has been mentioned would be to contact an operator running a fair few of them & ask permission. Not to take the opportunity from drivers but if you hgve an operator £500 to talk to 5 of their drivers for an hour each, they’d bite your hand off.

Not many on here drive one as its still a new truck, there’s a Scottish fellow on for a cash & carry has one I think. Trying to arrange to meet up around the country would be very hard for you.

Keedwell’s have just ordered 400 apparently, that’s driver speak though so…

You could search the site for opinions about it, not quite what you need but valuable info at the sharp end none the less.

Certainly sounds like the average haulier is going to have to wait until the Mark 2 version has been around a while. Just too much potential time being lost with the vehicle sitting in a workshop messing around with minor defects and uploading the latest attempt at a software fix and fitting reprogrammed? experimental sensors.

Still nothing like what you’ve put, you can’t even read it when you quote it??

I’ve had mine for over a year now.And I love the truck.can’t knock the storage or the bed.We have about 50 of them now.

Reed boardall have a fair few of them as well if you fancy a trek up the a1.

After reading some of the responses on here it’s no wonder people think truck drivers are knobs!
