Somewhere, I’ve a photo of the ex-London Carriers Guy Invincible in Maldon colours, taken in the mid-80s - I don’t know if it actually ran with Maldon Transport, though. Reg was MGP 472D.

HI 240, its very likely that MGP ran on the fleet, as they ran a few second hand GUYs and i believe that very same unit sat down West Station yard for quite some time after the firm had shut, along with a warrior and a scammell Trunker 2. The Trunker actually went back on the road in the late 80s-early 90s after having a coat of paint and a service, it shunted trailors locally for a while, then diserpeared. It had a Scammell box and 220 Rolls ( ex-shell). I’m pretty sure John Mee (fith wheel lorry club) has one of the GUYs in his collection of un-restored lorries on his farm at Tillingham nr Maldon, but i havent been down that farm for years, so it may have gone. The other motors i recall on Maldon Transport were a Scammell Crusader with 280 Rolls and double-drive B series ERF with a 8-pot 240. The B series was passed 1st to Thurogoods Transport (maldon), then it went on the Essex International fleet and i think there’s a pic of it on the ESSEX BOYS thread.

I’m not sure now whether the Invinicible belonged to John Mee, or to James Mann - this was 25 years ago.

And here it is…

Cheers for that 240, i reckon it was with John Mee at that time because that AEC is part of Johns collection, having been restored by his old fitter, the much missed Reg Turner.

I suspect so - it was certainly not at work then. That shot was taken in Ardwick at the start of the Trans-Pennine Run (1984, I think), and I also saw it in Battersea at an event accompanying the HCVS Londdon-Brighton Run
