I have a 7 foot horse chestnut tree i need to get moved, now i dont just want to chop it down thats the environmental bit in me.
So do any of you want it? and most importantly know how to transplant it or at least can give me some idea of how to do it?.
It seems a shame to chop it down so please if you can ask anyone you know that might be interested if they want it its free as long as they collect it.
Jammy, contact these people who should advise you and possibly take it off your hands.
Here’s how to dig it up. Warning: It’s (zb) hard work shifting trees of that size
but autumn’s the time to do it (after it’s dropped it’s leaves) 'cos the tree’ll be dormant and not as susceptible to shock.
Phonedthem seems they are not interested in non domestic trees for their forests seems a shame really , even phoned the local council who weren,t interested.
Looks like saw will be coming out when i get round to it and to hell with them next time they go on about save the planet!!!.
