Want a tree?

I have a 7 foot horse chestnut tree i need to get moved, now i dont just want to chop it down thats the environmental bit in me.

So do any of you want it? and most importantly know how to transplant it or at least can give me some idea of how to do it?.

It seems a shame to chop it down so please if you can ask anyone you know that might be interested if they want it its free as long as they collect it.

I obviously can’t take the tree but it reminds me of a funny thing that happened to me years ago.

When I worked for Swifts in Northampton we did some runs to and from Nacanco in MK, if we were on this run, which was usualy twice a week we would take down an empty and pick up a full one. I had jus moved to a brand new house that had no tree’s or even a garden and I mentioned that i wanted a tree. One robbing old git who worked there said he could get me a good one and one night he said “When you get to MK pick up trailer 105, it has your tree in it” I drove down in a state of despair wondering what he ahs done, on arrival I checked the trailer to find a 30ft pine tree in it, he had chained it to the frint of his truck and pulled it up and through the open curtain onto the trailer. I left it there and denied any knowlegde of it but there was a big inquest at head office as to how this huge tree got into one of the trailers
Nobody owned up

Jammy, contact these people who should advise you and possibly take it off your hands.

Here’s how to dig it up. Warning: It’s (zb) hard work shifting trees of that size :open_mouth: but autumn’s the time to do it (after it’s dropped it’s leaves) 'cos the tree’ll be dormant and not as susceptible to shock.

Phonedthem seems they are not interested in non domestic trees for their forests seems a shame really , even phoned the local council who weren,t interested.

Looks like saw will be coming out when i get round to it and to hell with them next time they go on about save the planet!!!.
