I’m hoping someone on here can give me some good advice! I’m interested in doing class one and getting ADR. I have spoken to a company that I believe is a broker and I’m not entirely sure on what they have said and there is no better advice than people that have done it! I’m from the south west Plymouth area is there any good companies to get in contact with? What would be the procedure and what would be best to do first?
Thanks for the list I will contact some of the companies on the list. All I have is my driving license. Do I have to do it in stages then? Would I not be able to train straight up to a class 1? I guess 1st thing would be to apply for the provisional with the medical? I am after any advice possible please.

Hi Luke.
Without knowing what entitlements you have on your license I can tell you what I did.
I passed my driving test in 1988 so I had the c1 entitlement on my license.
This meant ,thankfully, I could get my medical done and the pass the Hgv theroy and hazard perception test and then train and pass class2 or cat c as it’s known now.
Once my licence was returned it had class1 (cat c+e) provisional entitlement added to it.
I can now train to drive class 1 but when I’m ready to drive for a living I will still need to gain the 35 hour periodic training to gain the drivers cpc (cirtificate for professional competence)
Again the drivers cpc route will depend on when you passed your driving test.
Hope this helps and I’m sure if I’ve missed anything out or made a mistake others will help.
Dan
D2 form - tick C & D only
D4 form medical - never pay more than £60
Scan both sides of current licence
Send those to DVLA
When back from DVLA do these modules to be able to drive commercially
1a theory
1b HPT
2 driver cpc theory
(1a, 1b & 2 can be done on the same day at the theory test centre)
3 practical LGV C test
4 practical driver cpc test
When licence comes back from DVLA after passing LGV C it will have provisional CE on it
Now you can take LGV C+E training & test
So I will download the form form the Dvla or pick it up and proceed with there. Am I able to just book the theory and do it? Can anyone recommend a good place to learn for the theory?
This may be a stupid question and I think I’m a bit confused but am I able to just start learning and end up with a class one? Or do I need to get a lower license and gain some experience from that?
