Wannabe driver needs help

Afternoon all,

Bit of backstory, I was in the military during 2010 where I was taught to drive pretty much everything on the road, except for a bus, and have a license that backs this up…
I have contacted a couple of training firms in the local area as I assume all I need at this point is CPC training or at the least a DQC and a digicard, (I never recieved this training, or relevant quals in the army…). However they have refused to train me, nor give me adequate information on requirements.

So, what do I actually need to aquire to break through the red tape and jargon and actually get on the road?

To summarise, I have all license categories, except bus, I am 24 and have no DQC, no digicard, never did any sort of CPC training in the military.

And if I have answered my own question, at least this clarifies it for me!

You also need to pass initial dcpc lgv modules 2 theory and 4 practical so you can drive lgvs commercially in civvy street = viewtopic.php?f=5&t=121468

The DQC is a Driver Qualification Card that you get when you’ve completed the Driver CPC training.

There are two types of DCPC (Driver CPC), there is the initial DCPC which has to be taken by new drivers in order to drive HGVs commercially, then everyone has to do 35 hours DCPC periodic training every five years.

As you haven’t done the initial DCPC and you’re not old enough to have DCPC acquired rights, you now need to do the initial DCPC modules 2 and 4.

In short you need to do the Initial Driver CPC in order to get a DQC, then you can drive HGVs commercially.

On the .gov site it says you need all modules to get the initial CPC stuff out the way, and i am assuming that as i have already passed theory/driving in the past i already have module 1 and 3. would that be correct? last thing i want to do is book training needlessly…

That’s correct you just need modules 2 and 4 now.
