Just in here now and must say its one of the best breakfasts I’ve had. Proper butchers sausages and bacon, not swimming in grease, plum tomatoes and Heinz beans and doorstop bread and fried slice.
Bit on the dear side but I don’t mind paying for quality snap.

How much , as you are from “up Norf” where houses are bought for less than an average car , we poor sods that live here may think it’s cheap for a brekkie !
Best toast in england

I got the " number 2"which consisted of 2 bacon, 1 sausage, beans, tomatoes and 1 egg so I added an extra sausage, mushrooms, bit of bubble and the toast and fried slice and a cup of builders tea for £9.50.
The only other cafe I’ve been to down here was the one that is on the film Layer Cake The Regency Cafe and that too is a lovely brekkie, also a cracking atmosphere. Called in there when I went to watch The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park.
£9.50!!! Speechless from up north. That’s a days wage up here you know!

Duck me… That is a case of 'HOW MUCH!?!"
I’ve stayed there a few times at night, and the grub’s ok when included with your parking (boss paying for grub), but no way I’d pay near enough a tenner for a poxy breakfast.

I’d sooner pay nearly s tenner for a good brekky that will fill me up until tonight than go to South Mimms and pay for a Burger King that’ll fill me up for about 5 hours. I know it’s more than what we pay " Up North" but Friday is Full English day for me where I treat mi sen so I thought sod it
I use a lot of cafes now, as I’ve embarked on a health kick where I’ve swapped greggs and the like for scrambled on toast. I’m lucky with the job I do, I can spend 3 or 4 hours at a job, with cafes near by. Just had scrambled and a mug of tea for £3.40. At least £2 dearer in truckstops and the like. I will only eat in a decent place though. I went in 26 under its previous management, and was very unimpressed, and at those prices, I shan’t be returning any time soon

£9.50 for a brekky you must be made of money, one of the lucky ones to have such a well paid driving job
I always stop there for my 45 if I’m running up to the biffa landfill at ware.
Decent grub and not excessive expensive compared to the cafes in East London essex.
Was in there last week had chicken curry and rice and a nan bread tea and a can of drink was less than 8 quid. You could of had chips with it as well but I declined.
The sale beef sandwiched are very good too.
Plenty of parking although it’s very bumpy and dusty in the dry and large puddles in winter.
Don’t do nights out but noticed a sign saying speak to the traffic marshal before pulling your card so they can get you in where you won’t be blocked in so guess it gets pretty full in the evening.

You had a pay rise or won the lottery?
I eat out all week on a tenner.
Bet you needed a lie down after that?

You do know there’s a proper café in the truck services at South Mimms don’t you? trucks are actually prohibited from the MSA, there is a large sign saying so on the entrance. So you would have to walk about 3 times the distance from the lorry park to get a Burger King!

have you actually eaten in the cafe at the truckstop ? its not a proper cafe its pre heated crap left to dry under the heat lamps .You have to pay to park in where the cafe is. it says a bit when people still walk to the services to spend the meal voucher
