Option 1,Tell him you’ve decided what kind of driver to be a… Driver, that your starting on X date and would they like you to work up until then.
Option 2, wait until the next incident after you’ve got the start date and go off with ‘stress’
Either way take the Monday off it’s your stag weekend ffs and you’ve given them enough notice to get it covered.
Good luck for it all
After the day I’ve had I can see why people walk out.
I’d had enough this evening so I’ve left a note in the lorry saying I’m not working tomorrow (Thursday) and sent a text with the same. I’ll go back in Friday. If he sacks me it’ll just make my decision easier. He’ll pay me either way else i’ll be taking his lorry keys (all of them) until he does.
I’ve been imagining dropping his lorry keys down a drain all day.
Yep. Walked out of my first job mid february after months of being treated like ■■■■ told them on no certain circumstances would I be returning. Not looked back since.
Ched:
Also if you walk out of a job, are they allowed to with-hold pay for days worked since your last pay day?
They cannot withold your pay but they can sue you for breach of contract and the costs associated with it, typically having to have an agency driver in for a week.
I walked out of a job back in July when I returned after a week out. I posted on here the state of the truck and some other ‘issues’ I had. To be honest I didn’t feel great about doing it but lucky for me I was offered something else the very next day.
I’d think twice about walking out of somewhere I’d been working at for a couple of years though, everyone wants references these days.
RRRR yes, that old chestnut “you poxy drivers”, yep maybe in their opinion we are, but what the highly intelligent bosses forget is, no drivers, no income, no buisness. Bellends. O and no doubt they’ve got draws full of applications from people who wanna work for them. Let them crack on then and interview this draw full, and when no new driver starts, it’s because they were not suitable…
only ever walked with no notice given the once but it was the best thing i ever did for my sanity, was out of work for a week, explained why i walked to my new boss and his reply was too burst out laughing and congratulated me on lasting there so long.
