There is no question about it you are being bullied at work. No one should have to put up with this . If you were in a union you would be able to do something concrete about it, as it is probably not. However if this man is treating you like this then he is probably doing the same to others, but you just don’t know about it. If you are intending to leave anyway, perhaps you should consider your fellow workmates and do what you can to put a stop to this.
If there is a manager above this man or better still a tier of management above him or a personnel dept, then along with your resignation demand to make an official complaint via a senior manager or the HR dept about this man bullying you. Insist that it is recorded and that you are given a copy of the details of your complaint and you say that want to be informed of the results of the enquiry. Make clear that you consider that you have no future with the company because of this man’s bullying. If the company is big enough they will be forced to investigate, even more so if you indicate that you will be taking professional advice (you are bluffing, but they won’t know that). The personnel dept will act entirely independently of operational management and will take bullying very seriously indeed, especially if you emphasise the point made earlier about stewing over what has been said to you while driving and the potential for this to have dangerous catastrophic results. From what you have written the company has to investigate.
With luck this man will be out on his ear. At the very least it will be recorded as a complaint against this man which will make the next poor sod’s case more believable.
When you put in your resignation make sure you put down how his actions have made you feel-how I’ll it’s made you through stress and you are leaving for the sake of your health.

Employers cannot give a bad reference, however they can refuse to give a reference
The well known medical condition " Stobart planneritis ".
Symptoms include(but not limited to); excessive hours, the desire to strangle young men in white shirts, deliberate ripping out of Isotrak wiring, and 3 hour revenge plotting whilst waiting at RDC’s.
The usual remedy to this ailment is to ram Volvo/Scania/MAN keys firmly up the planners backside, preferably with a red hot poker.
Patients normally recover within 24 hours when they realise there is plenty work elsewhere.

Don’t no how long you have been driving but most of what you have put is how haulage works. If you are not working when on a bay why can’t you have your break while on the bay.
Maybe because it isn’t possible to get a hot meal or a shower for example, while on the bay?

It lays the foundations for a claim if you make your reasons clear at the time of departure, if you walk out straight away and they try to hold back your money you can say that you told them that your position was untenable and they forced you into a corner.
If this office worker is as bad as you say it will also highlight his behaviour to his superiors and it might just get him the recognition he deserves., oh and keep a copy of the letter and make sure you record who you gave it to and when.
Unfortunately another incident happened today with the said manager, and once again, he crossed the line. There was a genuine problem that he needed to solve, and rather than do that, he only wanted to give me a rollicking about some minor issue. I recorded the conversation, which is of some quite good comedic value.
I will tip first thing in the morning, make a short 5-minute journey back to base, and hand-in my keys, never to be seen again. I will also e-mail him, CC’d to the head of HR with the reasons for my actions stated, and that my position was untenable. Any funny business with pay or legalities, and the audio recordings of the conversations, along with a formal letter of complaint will also be winging it’s way to the head of HR.
I know it’s hard to believe, but the firm in question isn’t actually Stobarts. I used to work for Stobarts, and I admit their planners were a bit over-zealous, but at least the manager didn’t give you verbal abuse over the phone, or reprimand you for not doing a
The manager in question does have a reputation amongst drivers for being a complete warrior over the phone, and then daren’t look you in the eye when he sees you in person. But what he said today just makes me angrier every time I think of it, there’s no way this can go unpunished. Either way, tomorrow will be my last day, I’m sure of that.
I cant give you advise about your tramping issue, being away from base. But I’m a hot head the minute the office mess me around, I throw in the towel, (granted i don’t stay in a job long but weeks after the firms always ask me to come back, longest job 6months over the last 8 years altho i’ve worked for the same companies several times) this is where I can tell you what I would do.
■■■■ this firm, ■■■■ this manager ■■■■ the office staff, you drive a truck, they need this truck driving, but other companies need trucks driving, and your a truck driver.
If i was in your postion, I would finish the week, take the weekend/rest days off, on the next day you are ment to start your shift go into the office and hand in you immediate notice, just walk back out, and into a new job. You’ll drop the firm in ■■■■ but ■■■■ em. Don’t take ■■■■ from anyone
Good for you drive, stand up to the little man and keep your head up high. Just relax now and don’t let him work you sounds like he deserves a slap in the face with a shovel. Onwards and upwards and good luck on your next adventure
Way back in 2001 I decided that I’d had enough of a certain employer. Similar circumstances, I went back to base and told him straight (I didn’t turn round though ) end of, I moved on, he moved on.
If you are leaving just go don’t dramatise it on here because we’ll end up with 3 pages of willy waving

If it’s a decent paying job and the only real problem is this gobshyte, grow a pair and call his bluff, ask him to sack you if he thinks you are crap at your job, if he won’t tell him to shut the [zb] up in future so you can get on with it.
Wouldn’t let a prick like that get me down, he would get as much back as he is giving if I’m doing nothing wrong, I certainly wouldn’t leave, from experience he will soon stop if you give enough back.
If it’s a crap job still do the above, and walk before the push.
This is it. Stand up for yourself. I’ve had people like that in my life, did I worry ? did I bollix. Give his crap straight back face to face, not on the phone and get people above him involved.

Thats true but i’m on about the drivers who spend 3 hours on a bay then pull outside and stop for 45 minutes, no hot food or showers there

I am sure some drivers have a genuine reason for doing this, like they are deducted all breaks so would have it on poa whilst tipping or even other work, then have there break, why should you be expected to have your break on a bay?
Then there is the driver who begrudges the greedy firms who deduct 45 mins or more a day, this is an acceptable way of getting the deducted money back by some drivers.
From what I am reading this is an out and out case of bullying at its worse, you have rights as an employee, what you need to do is to document everything that is going on, dates, times what is being said, also buy yourself a dictaphone and record every conversation you have with this ■■■■■■■ and store them on your pc, belive me a tribunal will listen to what you have say but it all needs to be written down.
I carry a dictaphone everywhere with me and will not go into any meeting without it, and it has proved time and time again what has been happening behind closed doors
