Think it’s recycled building products some such or other that they burn in their power station.

Thanks for that - I was thinking of cement products rather than fuel
for the cement kilns. I’ve now been able to read up on it :
CEMEX UK, the building materials supplier, has increased the use of alternative fuels burnt in its two cement kilns at South Ferriby, North Lincolnshire. Over a three day period in March 2011 the plant set a new record of using 100% alternative fuels.
The alternative fuels used at South Ferriby are Secondary Liquid Fuels (SLF) made from industrial liquid wastes that cannot be recycled and Climafuel, made from domestic, commercial and industrial waste that would otherwise typically go to landfill.
Hiya at the Lafarge plant Cauldon low they burn pellets made from human waste that’s run from
Middlesbourough on 45ft walking floor trailers. you can load pallets on a walking floor trailer when
you’ve got the hang of useing then.

that job is a doddle, ive done that work for gregory to cemex rugby and hanson at ketton near stamford. it is household waste that is treated and has all the metals, rubber, glass and all other unburnables removed from it leaving all the paper and card to be used as fuel. only done the ferriby job once so it may have changed regarding tipping, but the trailer is loaded thro the roof or a compactor ram thro the back door. once you get to the tip it goes down a hopper or you just rattle it out onto the floor and the machine man takes it away, sweep out the trailer, push the internal door back to the headboard, shut back doors, on the weighbridge to weigh out and the jobs done ready for the next load
OK Thanks for that.
I’ve heard that Gregorys is a decent firm to work for and that
the job at South Ferriby is a good little number.
Shame that South Humberside is too far for me to commute.
Good Luck to all applicants.

I hope it’s Safe & been Risk Assessed, we don’t want Mummy Lafarge getting worried about her ‘Wittle Workers’
Just wondering,
has anyone ever forgot to push the headboard back, then reloaded…
I’ve never used a walking floor so don’t know exactly how they work.

seen that done a few times but its no big deal because the internal door sits on hinges the load will push the door upwards from behind and you can still unload it, you just have to walk the load forward again every now and then to let level out, the only problem is it usually rips the small sheet at the bottom of the door off which you need to make the door push against the load to empty it under normal unloading, altho its not a big job to replace it

i might be wrong but i think the 2 local drivers that were on tht job live round about the immingham area altho it was a while ago so im not sure. gregorys are as good or bad as any other big company, if its suitable why dont you commute on a monday and stay in the truck till friday/sat then commute back home, am sure gregorys would be ok with that, as many other drivers do it for them

yep in the 15 yrs I’ve been pullin walking floors I have done quite a few times
saw dust and wood chips are the worst when it happens the other stuff ain’t to bad
 I loaded waste paper from Pearce brothers st Albans. Anybody that’s been knows you have to back down into a pit down a steep ramp. The headboard was at the front with the mat down… I didn’t hear it sliding to the back:shock:… It tipped ok but left about a ton of paper. You don’t normally do it twice
