Walking floor rates?

A mate of mine has been offered some work for a walking floor trailer but at the moment he only runs tippers and has no idea how to charge for a walking floor so i’m putting it out to you guys. Is it usually day rate, per tonne or mileage?? Any help greatly appreciated. cheers

I don’t know for sure but I would guess that it’s mostly per tonne like bulk work especially as there is a large degree of overlap in the work.

Yeah I would have thought the same too but obviously it would be more than a tipper as the equipment is alot more specialised. Some of the work is day rate but not sure about the other.

A mate of mine runs walking floors. Depending on the tonnage to be moved he either quotes on a day rate or mileage. He looks to get anywhere between £2-2.30 per mile sometimes more depending on the job and the location its going to.

I’m on a walking floor and my gaffer charges by the tonne if you can get your weight (green waste etc) or by the load if it cubes out before top weight (wood chip etc) but occasionally were on a day rate but that’s generally when he knows there will be a fair bit of hanging about.
