Good call, plenty of yes men would have done what they were told, then ■■■■ and moan about it to everyone but the boss, that type of nonsense is one of the reasons to avoid for profit transport.
There is to many yes men and alot of drivers are to worried to move jobs so judt get on with it as they say.
Planners take note: No one in this job should be planned for shifts lasting longer than 10-12 hours tops. “Running out of time” to me means 15 hours. WTF are you doing stuck out miles from base THAT far into your shift FFS?

Wouldn’t help anyway even in court, as 1 party of the phone call didn’t know they were being recorded, the regulation of investigatory powers Act 2000, basically says you can only record with out the other parties permission for personal use.
Incorrect the word ACT 2000 it’s a act not law.
Road Traffic Act 1988
Terrorism Act 2000
ETC ETC
parliament.uk/about/how/laws/acts/
An Act of Parliament creates a new law or changes an existing law. An Act is a Bill approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and formally agreed to by the reigning monarch (known as Royal Assent). Once implemented, an Act is law and applies to the UK as a whole or to specific areas of the country.

If it’s relevant to a legal complain … it can be used, ask cops who record people illegally and it’s admissible in court…
Also look up statue law and common law.

What a ■■■■, you did right standing up for yourself and getting out of there.
Name and shame
I would name and shame but in this day and age they would sue you for somthing.I dont het used as a door mat and there is plentys of jobs out there.
apparently not,we keep hearing about the driver shortage from these so called experts in the government and haulage associations

So after him asking you to put you licence on the line you go and make the delivery and on top of that you bring his truck back to him and then jack just so he can do it to the next guy.
I would have been looking to get myself home after the first phone call and leave the truck where it was and if that was not possible i would have brought the whole lot back undelivered therefore he wont ask anyone again, guys like him love drivers like yourself because he has never being taught a lesson.
why should i pay for the train home and all my stuff use his fuel 4 hours worth of it.
Yes that really put him in his place
Did you warn him earlier in the day that you may run out of hours? The amount of drivers who literally drive up to their hours then Park up and inform the office having given no previous warning you’re running out is incredible. I’m not saying you did but it is a reason for bosses going off on one
Have to agree with Luke there if you didn’t inform him early enough id have gone mad too
The fact that Colin was told to"pop his card"tells me everything I need to know.
These cowboy transport managers should be prosecuted for bluntly asking/telling drivers to break the law like that. I wonder if a recording of such a phone conversation would be viewed as good enough evidence to obtain a prosecution? If not, it should be!
The OP should report that guy to the DVSA. They should come in and have a look at the tacho units in all his vehicles to see if they’ve been running bent or without a card.
Col will be fine. Jedi Master ex Stobart drivers are in high demand
We are like Diamonds amongst Cubic Zirconia…

Fair enough, no excuse for him then
I wonder how long your next job will last before you walk out of it ?
What difference does it make how long he lasts? If the job is a pile of dung he will probably walk, because he sounds like the kind of driver who doesn’t bend over to reveal an arrow pointing to his ringpiece alongside the phrase " please enter ".
Not enough drivers with a spine as it is.

you got that right there isn’t enough drivers with any back bone the cpc card thing proved that when all the spineless went off to get there card so there boss can carry on making even more profits of the back of those who have paid out quite a sum of money to be able to drive there trucks
