Iv tramped for a wee while now.
I got annoyed with itv before Xmas as I felt my life was wasting away.
I started tramping again last week after a month off.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like I am wasting man hours either sitting on a bay for hours or parked up in the evenings especially when parked up at 1800hrs.
What do the rest of you lads do to pass time.
I feel iv got that much spare time. I could study a degree while getting a decent wage.
Does anyone do anything productive in there spare time or toss it off?
Im restoring a 1950 MG TD at the moment, and I take my son to gymnastics on a Tuesday, I play tennis on a Wednesday evening I do a bit of cooking and ferrying the kids about the place. In the summer I like to get out fishing of an evening or cycling. My wife is 20 years younger than me so she needs looking after as well. Mind you.....I dont do tramping. I start in the morning and I`m home at teatime.
Like most working people do.
These days being a tramper is no excuse for wasting time. Read, do courses like you mention, listen to audiobooks. Have a look at Open University, so many courses, doesn’t have to be a degree. Lots of courses are a few months long and can be combined over time to make a degree or many of them are a qualification in their own right.

Does not bother me sat on a bay, it is part of the job that I am paid for. As for putting the time in, kip on the bunk, cup of tea, read a book, or if I’m told it will be a while, put a dvd on or go for a walk, …again, still getting paid so not bothered.
If you think you are parking up too early, don’t start as soon in the morning .
On night out, and I feel like it go for a meal and a beer, if not and I can not be arsed, it’s curtains drawn, shorts on, warm up a meal, chill out with the book or dvd, night heater on, cool beer out of fridge, job sorted.
If summer night out for a decent walk.
While tipping or being parked up wether permitting I like to give the truck a once over, have it kept clean and polished awaits the anti bling brigade to come along don’t really drink in the week so parking up consists of chilling out, browsing the net etc

Sorry mate, I can never resist taking the pi…sorry, having a word with a tank polisher, so won’t dissapont you, and don’t take it personally , but if I was one, …which I aint (although I know I have never mentioned that fact on here before ) I would be doing it when I got back on a Fri pm, or Sat am, when I was still getting paid, not during my daily rest (which is probably another subject for argument with the Tachonazis on here btw.)
