Hi all , my first post on here . Anyway having seen other post on here regarding waiting time for provisional c class I thought I would share my experience of having spoke with the dvla after 3 weeks that there is a backlog of 8-9 weeks . Some of you seem not be experiencing this but for those who like me are you have my sympathies .
Next part is regarding the theory and hazard perception tests , the theory I’m finding fine on the practise discs that I have but is it me or is the hazard perception hard for those of us who have been driving for a lot of years (30 in my case) . The reason I say hard is that if you only do one click when you see the hazard it is before the disc reckons you should see it . I have found myself having to do 3-4 clicks just to make sure I am getting the score and usually 2 of them are before the hazard is acknowledged .
Anyway a useful site especially for those of us changing career .

Hi Gillberry,
You have my sympathies regarding the hazard perception test. I too have been finding some practice videos i’ve found online and through apps quite inconsistent. With me doing some over and over and over again to see what it takes to get full marks.
Keep us updated on your progress.
I done hazard about a month ago , not one video out of the 19 I had to do was the same as the practice disc, I passed no problem , and I found the real test was so much easier than when I was practicing, so don’t stress too much over it, but do keep the practice going, it does help , good luck.
I had my provisional back in a week, that was 3 weeks ago. Others have been just as quick unless theres something on your D4 form that needs further invesitagtion.
Wouldnt sweat too much on the hazard perception, done mine last week and after a bit of practice its pretty straight forward. I was clicking 3 - 4 times per hazard just to be sure…
Thanks for the replies , it is great to find a site where there are others in the same situation as yourself and with experienced people to give you guidance .
I’m just in no man’s land until I get my licence back from dvla and at least then I can start with the tests and then the driving .

Hear hear. Mine got sent back to me because the doc hadn’t ticked a box (no I don’t have sleep apnea snores loudly). When I took it back up there she wasn’t in! Bloody mess. Spent about 2 hours driving around trying to get this box ticked.
Just checking twice a day to see if the entitlement has been added yet.

If it was just a tick required, i think i would have ticked it myself.

I lost 2weeks firstly doctor missed one tick box and then my fault as put a new photo in when not needed although having spoke to dvla they said enclose a covering letter which I did but it still got sent back also minus my paper part licence . It is now 5 weeks since i last sent it back to them and when I rung to check yesterday dvla still hadn’t got around to it . Very envious of those who get them back within 2-3 weeks .
Good news checked online this morning and my provisional entitlement is now there . Just got to check the post and then start booking tests .

How long were you waiting for your provisional to come back?

Not got it back yet but checking licence details it’s now there . In total ignoring the mishaps it’s just over 5 weeks .

I suspect most trainers will be happy to book a course with you now even though you do not physically have the licence because you will have it in time for the training
Not many trainers will offer you a course next week !!
