Waiting at Tesco

[quote="Spardo
As Baz has said if RHA & FTA members stood firm things would change, but I hope no-one is holding their breath. Having served on governing bodies in both organisations I know how little the drivers’ position is appreciated and understood.
[/quote]

I have contacted both RHA & FTA on other occasions, No replies ever came.
They are not interested in “Drivers” only the Companies that pay for their services.

Other RDCs are being mentioned, well if we can get Tesco to see the error of their ways, then the smaller one’s might be easier to bring round.

Those that have not noticed The Meeting is confirmed
See the “Sticky” above

Reef, would that be Bookers ?

Noone has commented on the fact that if Tesco are telling you to go here, can’t wait there etc - then it cannot be counted as rest period as by definition it is a period when you as they driver can do as you wish (sleep, read go for a walk etc).

I think that it also can’t be counted as POA as don’t you have to be given an end time?

If this is true, then you are clocking up working hours. If we all stick to the rules, isn’t it going to screw things up for everyone as people will be running out of hours all the time■■?

The last time i was at Tesco at Doncaster i was sitting about for 4 1/4 hours in total

I don’t think disconnecting the red air line is an option either.
How many have a close coupled trailer where you have to pull out a bit to uncouple the suzies.
It can be a bit tight in there and no doubt would end up covered in grease.

Sun & mon night I did Tesco Livingston, Frozen goods on double decker, pulled in at security and paperwork & seals checked then told to go round to left, handed paperwork in etc and took 45 min break, returned to office and was given paperwork for another trailer, so hitches up (sun night) and heads to security waiting in queue to exit, eventually its my turn, security looks at paperwork and says, that trailer numbers been altered, wheres your notification sheet ? I looked at him blankly as I didn’t have a clue what he’s on about, then he says, when the transport dept change a number they have to give you a sheet with change confirming it was them who changed it, I cant let you out without that :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Okay says I, what do I do then? Security guy says, go back to transport dept and get a notification sheet,

(Well anyone knowing Tescos Livingston will know they have 2 lanes in on Left and 2 lanes out on Right (Looking from outside the premises) anyway trailers were parked on far right so only the lane nearest the security hut could be used to exit,)

So an evil thought goes through my head :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

So I says, ok will pop down and get one mate, be back in a few mins and immediately walks out of the door on the inwards side :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Another Security guy (Watching TV) says where you going, traffic office says I, but you cant leave your truck there your blocking the exit

It wasn’t me who {zb] up, says me, so if I’ve got to suffer because of Tesco’s fault then so can everyone else, amazingly I only got around 6 foot away from the security office when they decided the change would not need a notification sheet after all

And I thought I would have been banned from site ensuring I didn’t have to go back there again

concerning facilities for drivers, visited ikea armthorpe few years ago, couldnt use the showers because some kind sole had stolen all the fittings, and in one shower some one had crapped,is it any wonder we are treated like lepers.

So what was the big problem in going out the gate spin it round and go and get the paperwork sorted  everyone makes mistakes and the blokes on the gate are just doing their job, if they let some numpty take the wrong trailer their going to get it in the neck :unamused:
I take it from your story you were in a queue with other drivers behind you waiting to get out , if so it is a bit of a selfish attitude to stomp your feet and try and make a point that its not your problem and your going to make everyone suffer, and keep others behind waiting . I know if I was behind waiting I would not be a happy chap being held up by a one man teddy throwing incident and I would make it quite clear to your good self.
I have always found Livingstone Tesco to be one of the better tips in fact any where in Scotland seems to have a more healthy attitude to drivers, equal to Southern Ireland , then in the rest of the UK

As for getting banned over something so petty doesnt really seem like a sensible route to take,I think maybe you were joking on that point from the use of smiley faces, if I was banned my boss would go up the wall, unless it was for a good reason.

Sorry but if they want to be petty because 611898 was changed to 691898 then thats their problem, moreso when the trailer number could clearly be seen.

As it was proved, it could not have been that much of a problem or why did they just let me go?

Secondly, the little grey gadget on the desk called an internal telephone was quite capable of being used by security to ring the transport office body concerned, of course that may of meant them interrupting the guy watching TV  .

If the problem is my fault fair do’s but when I’m being [zb] about because of somebody elses fault then they too can suffer the consequences.

If it means chucking a teddy out the pram so be it

As for being banned off site, I dont normally do Livingston, I dont like doing Livingston and I dont give a ■■■■ if I dont see the place again, there are plenty others who enjoy it so give it to them

I agree with you Davey. It could have been resolved by them belling up goods out to confirm it rather than being arses about it. I would have done the same by all accounts.

 If that was the way they chose to secure the trailer then they would have to get off their ■■■ and come out to do it. Bearing in mind that they don’t trust any driver to do anything else right.
