So if a bumbee stung bumbee in the bum, what colour would the bumbees bum be?.

Course mate
Ha Ha… The 3rd word from the end is spelt “Bee” instead of be. That’s what he/she meant as a “Sting in the tail” That’s why I said “Bee”
■■■■ me. no more quick quips please eagerbeaver - this lot turn `em into marathons!

Ey… Rocky’s trainer has passed away. You must be a fake.
Nowt wrong with a bit of self congratulation, I dabble a bit myself in a ‘card out -■■■■ out’ type way.
One cant really argue against agency folk sticking to their guns and setting a minimum rate for themselves. All horses for courses really, me I aint on no where near £11ph but the job I have chosen suits my current lifestyle requirements for a healthy balance of work vs personal time, also the jobs a doddle with no load interaction and plenty of time to pursue my healthy interest in the art of tribbing.
In the end though its the bigger picture that counts, hourly rate is vanity, take home is sanity and quality of life is reality.
only just got around to reading this thread so apologise for a response to an early post
Years ago nobody gave a toss what anybody else got paid as everyone was paid differently anyway
i seem to remember that it was a bit different to that years ago. The wages were the same practically everywhere and the main urge to change jobs was having a crap gaffer or a crap truck.
Certainly if you worked in the “hire and reward” sector most wages were governed by the RHA or similar and apart from night money or meal expenses etc most co’s paid the same basic wage for the same class of vehicle driven.

Possibly so, however most folk I worked with were paid on earnings and the percentage and flat rate varied a bit between employers/type of load/size of truck etc so we could all be paid differently even if we were on the same journey. It was never an issue though if you were content, and most were as not many left. I would imagine that those on general haulage etc would be paid on a more fixed system though?
Pete.
still think its great that people come on here moaning and groaning about pay, whether you like it or not (and I disagree on this) the job is classed as unskilled. every driver in a job knew the rate of pay before you started so either decided to start and give it a bash/wait till something better comes up, or decided its a means to an end (like millions of other out there).
fair play if you can get £10-11-12-20 an hour, but unless £12 an hour is enough to keep the roof over your head etc. bragging is pointless.

no its not me as i gave up with driving and wouldn’t come back for 11 quid an hour, try 20 quid an hour and i might be interested again.

What ya doing with yourself at the moment then Pete?
No Desypete as at the moment I am on £9.75 per hour PAYE but it is container work and I can work the days I want
With regards to wardy’s comment above I think your selling yourself way short if you think along the lines of drivers are unskilled, there are lots of examples of unskilled very highly paid earners out there.
I personally think that there are not many employees would not put up with no set finish times,no overtime, working weekends, stress and hassle of the job from start to finish, also dont forget the attitude of customers when an artic full of stuff comes on their premises, they don’t like it its more work for them.
I am sticking to my guns £11p.h.,for the first 8 hours.
UP THE WORKERS!
best of luck but no matter how much you try to dress it up its not skilled, I don’t agree with this but it isn’t and if unskilled people are out there earning more then best of luck.

By whom? The lowest definition I can find is semi-skilled due to the fact you’re required to have training and a qualification to do it over that of the ordinary bloke in the street.
Part of the reason people accept low wages is because they believe the line they’re sold that its unskilled and anyone can walk off the street and do the job. The fail rates just for the driving test alone prove that isn’t the case.
Wages have nothing to do with qualifications or skill sets. Wages are determined by the available labour. When this country was short of labour to work in the factories for instance (circa 1975) you were paid a handsome wage and bonuses for staying back to do overtime. A Saturday morning was time and a half and a Sunday double time. Now that the country is flooded with an abundance of labour the employers can keep lowering the rate until they cannot get people so they notch it up a shade and a happy medium is reached. It is only the indigenous British people who complain about wages because the nation is in decline and we are not used to working for sweet F. A. Where as the economic migrants coming here think £8 an hour is absolutely wonderful. Skills only come in where if they are hard to achieve the foreign labour cannot easily attain them so do not impact the market but there are thousands of foreign HGV drivers so the rate will stay low.

To get my C+E license I had to pass 4 different tests, showing not just my knowledge but my ability too. Being agency I have to demonstrate this knowledge and skill on a regular basis before I am employed. Hardly the hoops an “unskilled worker” has to jump through.
