W T LACEY`S

I might be looking in the wrong place but cannot find much info About W T LACEYS out of Barking, I drove for them on and off over a few years but lost track of the company and was wondering what happened to them. not the best paying company around but was always willing to give you a chance and as I remember always had plenty of work, mainly Germany and Italy. Over the years they also had a fair mixture of Trucks from Leyland buffalos to Scanias only one Volvo from memory a left ■■■■■■ F89, I also remember a Scammel Crusader, alongside some Leyland Marathons, and my all-time favourite Transcon. the transport manager was Jeff Sampson, and as I recall he was ok and pretty laid back. After Driving a variety of trucks over a period of time I finally got my mitts on a Transcon and fell in love with the Truck ( as you do ) at that time I was on regular runs to Italy again mainly Milan and the surrounding area, I did have for a period of time the only Truck that was painted in a different colour it was a Transcon and it was painted yellow and sign written CROWE and I am sure that they were a freight forwarder based in London LIFT. if im wrong someone will put me right. One rather funny story that goes with that truck before I had it was on a trip to Milan, the driver was a nice guy called Micky North and that evening we had all got together to eat at POPS when we came out low and behold Mickys truck was gone stolen to order most probably, After reporting it to the agent he had to wait around for some news I then got a message through the agent to pick up the driver and proceed to an address where the Truck was now Parked ( Minus The Load And Tilt Cover ) we finally located it in a Scrap yard with all the fuel gone and an odd wheel on the front Mick noticed the jack mark in the dirt where the scrap yard had jacked it up and nicked the wheel, so when the police arrived Micky went berserk and after a brief discussion the police made the scrap yard replace the wheel. I am sure that there are a few people out there who can pass on some further information so please do I would like to here more ( I am sorry but I have lost all the photo`s I had so a few pictures would also be great )…

I cannot remember them doing container work on a regular basis, but that’s not to say that they never did them.

Stacey’s were a totally different company, they also done european work & for all i know both of them dabbled in container work
