When I was down there on Sunday morning, I noticed that there were trenches dug in the concrete and were all across the yard. There were all sorts of pipes exposed and there were hardly any motors around the place.
Looks pretty severe, whatever is happening - anyone know?
wylie:
i belive they are closing that yard down and relocating it all to haydock and running just a handful of units from preston
No - there’s been a major derv leak emerging into Bowker’s drains and into the River Havelock (that grubby little stream outside), and it’s been traced back to Malcolm’s.
That’s why there’s been a tanker outside Bowker’s gate, pumping out of the stream.
Apparently the pipes are simply encased in the concrete and have corroded away over the years. Many thousands of litres involved…
I had heard that diesel was involved, but I didn’t realise that it was getting into someone else’s drains.
There’s more than just the smell of derv in the air - there’s something distinctly litigious hovering as well…
Is it right what I heard - that WHM allegedly blamed WHB?
Not sure about that - I think the EA initially blamed WHB but were soon pointed in the right direction as WHB’s fuel is all stored above ground with intact bunding. I’m sure that a court case will follow - EA not exactly noted for benevolence in that respect!!
