Hope someone can help I am currently writing up a history of Shotley Bridge and company’s based there over the years. I know Glendinning’s were based on Bridge Island in Shotley Bridge up to the early 2000’s but don’t know much about when they started or how big they were or what they specialised in. I also know they transported cars as a major part of their business (a relative used them in the 1990’s).
Be really grateful if anyone could help with any information
Thanks
Plenty of stuff for Glendennings in the Old North East Companies thread. Transporterman may help you.
Well I knew Archie Glendinning, He chaired many a RHA Meeting, One of his sayings was Ruddy, He used to say the Ruddy fuel has gone up again, He also attended many of the RHA Dinner dances at the Brandling Hotel in Gosforth Park with his good lady, They were both good dancers, He used to wear Winkle Picker shoes, He used to sign in at the meetings as WAG, The late Ronnie Henderson used to tease him about this, The good old days, Regards Larry.
Thanks for the replies so far and the pointers to where to look on the forum
Cheers Andrew
I drove the last truck out of the Island before handover, sure it was January 1996. I have had some photos on here also the Shotley FB site.
