VW to buy International

Seems Traton (VW) have bid for Navistar (International) in the U.S. That would increase the reach of MAN and Scania engines, 'boxes and axles presumably decreasing unit cost. ■■■■■■■ and Eaton must be worried as vertical integration spreads over there.
For the fanboys there could conceivably be a new T-cab Scania for the States. Doubt it would get the V8 though!

Trump’s idea of ‘making America great again’ sell it out to the Germans. :unamused:

Navistar’s ‘own brand’ EGR-only engine was based on the MAN EGR-only engine.

Nearly broke both companies…

Barely relevant but I found it interesting.

Whilst trawling the internet I discovered that if you order a “heavy haul/oil field spec” Peterbilt in the US today it will come with MAN hub reduction drive axles, I was amazed but probably shouldn’t be surprised as I think that together with Sisu they are the best heavy duty axles available.
