Anyone else seen Vosa sitting on the slip road of the south bound side of the M6 just at the bottom of the hill along from the motorway police depot? Seen them a few times now. Is there a check point near by or something? is it a speed trap to get those using over run down the hill? lol
There is a VOSA checkpoint at Preston, so they could be waiting there to pull people in. Regarding the ‘over-speeding’ they are not breaking the law unless they breach the 60 mph limit. That is what i have always been told anyway.

Yeh they bring you off at the m65 turn off, southbound to the roundabout, turn right and there on the right at the end of the m65,its such a nice place,

Some nice soul will correct me if I’m wrong but it used to be vosa or the police could not divert you more than 5 miles off route for weigh checks etc
Don’t quote me please but i’m fairly sure that rule is they could divert you 100 miles to a weigh bridge if they wished. But after 5 miles you can claim money from VOSA if it’s found nothing is wrong with your truck/tacho’s.
But if anything is wrong then you cant clame,no if’s no but’s. Again i could be wrong which wouldn’t be bad going for my second post on this forum!. Start as you mean to go on an all…
You can be taken to the nearest weighbridge but if over 5 miles and you are found to be underweight then you can have a claim for expenses.

your right, they can take you to lands end, if they were after blood, but anything over 5 miles you can claim for,if nothing is found to be wrong after the check,

Sod’s law I would get pulled in john o’groats and the VOSA man happend to get out of the wrong side of bed that morning and was in a “Because i can” attitude!!!
You will see Vosa sat there most days at different times.
I think the weighbridge is within 5 miles of where they sit.
they are there every other day. they have been for years.
they usually follow you to see if you’re going on the m61 or continuing down the m6, then pull you on the m61/m65 junction or m6/m65 junction.
I thought i was in the clear a couple of weeks back, then a copper pulled me at the next junction, so don’t let your guard down, they appear from nowhere.
As for the 5 mile rule, they must compensate the haulier if the diversion is over 5 miles, and it dosn’t matter if there is a fault with your vehicle/tacho’s/weight etc, or not, you should still be compensated. That’s why they don’t divert you more than 5 miles.
When they pull you outside birkenhead docks, they take you to the test station it’s 4.9 miles. Sneaky eh.
They are there more than just every other day but lately I have notice that as well as VOSA there is mobile Police CCTV vans sitting up on one of the bridges and several Police cars sitting off a bit after that. Also there is the same 20 miles further south (also on the north bound) just before j23, the A580 turn off, there is a works unit ‘layby’ there too, noticed them there a lot as well lately, not to mention M62 J20, M57 Switch Island, Lymm services, Birch services, M62 J24. If you are lucky then you can be pulled in 8 times doing deliveries around the north west in one morning !!!

Are you sure it’s not our patrol cars? That works unit layby is the entrance to our control centre, we also have a HATO station there as well as a motorway police station.

Close but no banana! That’s my control centre. But i’m based further up as most of the good lads and lasses on here already know. I’ve already been spotted skiving I mean parked up monitoring the network.

Loosely translated that mean sitting in the motorway service station having a cupper looking through his high powered binoculars at the road network…
“Ooooooh, I can see up all the way up to junction 999a from here at junction 1 service station”
Oh somebody’s booked me a taxi and has got my coat ready for me, cheers lads

I can’t afford to buy drinks in a service station on my lowly civil servant wages!! It’s a thermos flask on an over bridge for me I’m afraid
He also can be seen hiding on the slip-road at j3 m65 both directions, he must fancy a change of scenery
