Around Witney in the last few days, Vosa have been having a purge on donkeyboxes and Ifor Williams type cattle trailers. About time too…there has to be more money in funes from these groups…and builders vans/pickups of course…
They have a purge on different types from time to time, next week could be skip wagons and other similar type vehicles.
Wonder when they will have a purge of old knackerd boy racer type cars with poorly fitted bits of body kit hanging off and lights that are all the wrong colour

These seem very popular around here. Looking at many of those taking the odd sheep to the slaughterhouse, Vosa don’t need to look too hard for faults.
Cue the “stop bashing farmers” posse…

Major delays after A5 accident
Tuesday 17th April 2012, 1:30PM BST.
The crash involving a trailer carrying sheep on the A5 at Shrewsbury this afternoon
A trailer carrying dozens of sheep overturned on a busy road on the outskirts of Shrewsbury today closing part of the carriageway and causing delays of up to 20 minutes.
About 40 sheep were left trapped when the Land Rover Defender and trailer overturned on the A5 between Dobbies’ Island and Emstrey Island at about 9.30am.
A section of the A5 was closed for about two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and a vet was called to check over the animals.
Officials said that some of the sheep were believed to have been killed in the crash.
The driver of the Land Rover was treated for minor injuries at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
Diversions were set up but drivers faced delays of up to 20 minutes as the road was closed in the east-bound direction between Dobbies’ Island and the Weeping Cross junction as emergency services waited for a second trailer to transfer the animals from the scene.
Jo Carroll, a spokesman for the Highways Agency, said: “The incident came in at 9.35am. There was a full closure of the road temporarily, which came off at 11.51am. It appears some of the sheep were killed in the incident.”
Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “A Land Rover Defender with a stock trailer carrying sheep overturned and both the vehicle and trailer ended up on their side in the middle of the road.
“There has been considerable congestion and one lane was totally blocked.
“It was sorted very quickly. The A5 reopened at about 11.50am. The sheep were transferred to another trailer and everything is

Wrong, they get no sympathy from me for having crap kit, any more than a haulier would.
The easy way to spot an outsider round here is if the number plates match on the Landy and the trailer!
After seeing how many fail their MOT at Bicester test station i’m not surprised they’ve targeted them.

^ this. Oh definitely so much this ^
i wish they’d just [zb] off and leave everyone alone.
I am in that ‘young boy racer’ age range, and I despise the prats who try to ‘do up’ their car.
If its not a ridiculously stupid body kit it is a obscenely loud exhaust, which coupled to a small engine sounds horrendous! Or the more scary thing is they suddenly think they can go a lot quicker. I had some idiot try to overtake me on the A559 and no where near had enough power, had to put the brakes on (firmly) so he didn’t get front ended up the oncoming car!
Most of the upgrades look awful anyway, so I don’t know why they bother!
Actually I saw a lowered corsa in the car park with a bumper sticker saying ‘I have to go slow over speed humps, I’m lowered’ first time i know them to go slow!
Anyway rant over!
Any vehicle over 3.5 tonne that includes a combination (so van and trailer/car and trailer) now needs to be on an operators licence unless you have an exception, for example in a business you use the goods on the back as part of your job ie a mini digger. This only applies if it’s in connection with a business though, if its for personal use your ok.
We use a lot of small trailers in our business and someone we hire off has had a rather heated debate with vosa in regards to the machines he hires on the back being his and not needing a operators licence.
As a result of this new regulation we have noticed vosa pulling a lot of small trailer combinations over in our area.

+1 then maybe those of us that have good, legal, well maintained kit can pick up the work.
