vosa fines

I made a little ■■■■ up, So i thought i’d check out what it’ll cost me.
I did 10 hours 7 minutes driving, So that’ll be a maximum of £100. probably more like “keep an eye on it driver”.
But i also went 5 hours into my seventh day due to a breakdown. Not really sure what they’ll want for that one.
My mate told me this morning that vosa or whatever they are calling themselves nowadays are charging £300 per minute.
Funnily enough, i don’t believe him.

I believe that you can explain away the breakdown as its not in your control etc. Not sure on the other one.

That’s the excuse anyway. i did breakdown, but didn’t lose much time. I was convinced it was thursday until my wife told me it was friday. I thought i’d done well.

That’s pretty pants that, I know if you are held up in a queue due an RTC that you can write on your print out and that DVSA will check with us and your’e in the clear but a breakdown I’m not sure. Hope it goes ok.

i also went 5 hours into my seventh day due to a breakdown

How many hours between weekly rests?
After it was fixed how many hours before the rest was started?

Started 1630 Sunday. Finished about 2200 Saturday.
The compressor popped a gasket in France, so I just made a temporary one to get me home. I should have left the temporary one on. £150 for a gasket and 8 bolts from scania. O didn’t lose much time, just a couple of hours.

Why did you not stop for a weekly rest before 1630 Saturday? - I see no reason why you could not

Did a temporary repair in France. The permanent one at home.

Strictly speaking Phil, you should have taken 24 hours off in Dover or wherever. However, I personally don’t think DVSA would get too bent out of shape about it if you did a print-out saying “Weekly rest period started 5 hours late to reach home following breakdown in France” or similar, so long as it didn’t happen regularly and you passed the “attitude test”.

When I had my VOSA site visit, I had a near identical infringement, (about 3 hours late starting weekly rest) and they certainly didn’t seem to think that I should have spent the weekend at South Mimms. In my own experience, they tend to be more interested in drivers/operators who routinely just ignore the hours regs than those who have occasional operational problems.

I mean now that sir is why you a are a total hard charger. I mean, “I just made a temporary one to get me home”.

Change your name to Merlin, now.

now im not one for losing my digi card but it has happened from time to time and only cost about £25 (Scottish pounds) if vosa stops u give them ref number they check send u on ur way only cost £25 for a new card no fine no record kept on vosa data base etc. but don’t do it on purpose as that would be breaking the law as they say. I would say playing the game

Not much point if you drive the same lorry all the time though.
