Vosa at Trowel Services

Quick heads up ! (not that it bothers me, just don’t want the inconvenience on a Saturday morning)
Vosa are our Playing around Trowel Services.

I’m guessing Southbound, as they are in there a lot.

(Not that it bothers me at the moment, as I’m at home.)

Ken.

Yep, south bound.

All the more reason for using the rubber urinal then - make it smell nice…

I guess they have to have the consent of the Service Area owners to set up their check-point. In this case, at Trowell, it would be ‘Moto’.

What would be the incentive for the Service Station owners to give their consent to VOSA for these check points?

As I see it, places like Trowell must lose the custom of quite a few goods vehicles because word gets round that they are a VOSA hot spots.

I doubt whether HGV drivers spend much in the fast food outlets or the shops but these places must be losing some diesel sales as a result.

Any thoughts on this?

I know I always give Trowell a miss as I often spot VOSA in there as I drive on by.

Don’t suppose the MSA’s get much say in the matter, don’t the government set out their requirements for these Expensive Holes & if they want to use it for Revenue Generating (& getting some dangerous/defective vehicles off the road) in the form of nicking a few Drivers for minor Tacho offences, they can use it. :unamused:

I’ve driven into MSA’s with live VOSA checks dozens if not hundreds of times, never once have i been accosted by them.

Customers of the day are pulled in by the patrols and examined.

Don’t see the problem with VOSA checks anyway, be polite and show them you’re going about your work as best you can within reason and keep your vehicle well maintained and looked after they’ll be fair…take the ■■■■ or act like a spoiled kid or drive an uncared for filthy shed then expect problems.

At Trowell I got approached by the Vosa staff while I was sitting there in the lorry park on my tacho break.

That has put me off Trowell ever since!

With other Vosa check points at least they gave me a sporting chance and pulled me in while I was actually driving.

Last year they were in there most weekends. Usually checking caravans.

more often than not they seem to pull smaller goods vehicles, transits etc than HGV’s in there
