VOSA and broken indicators

If you get pulled for a routine and one of your side indicators is not working but you have put it on your defects sheet, what do vosa do in those situations? do you get a delayed pg9? all other indicators work just one of the side ones appears not to work.

cheers.

Was the defect found before or after the driver left base ?

Rog , you do not leave the yard with a inoperable indicator, why because
A; ITS AGAINST THE LAW; B; MOST FIRMS WILL STAB YOU IN THE BACK’
even if they had (forced)told you to go out with it and then have a accident

VOSA FPN of £30 - no points
After that it would be up to VOSA to decide if it was too dangerous to carry on which would come down to the discretion of the VOSA officer

Q. Are we talking about flashing " indicator lights" or plain orange “side marker lights”? I have seen some side markers flash with the turn indicators and others stay on only with the side lights.

What do you do/say if you’ve done a trailer swap and the other driver brought it to you without getting it fixed? You’d have to put it on your walk around sheet but would this cover you with VOSA?

I bet that would again be down to the discretion of the VOSA officer after hearing your explanation
I assume you mean a minor fault which, in your view as the driver, poses no safety concerns to other road users

Probably say to you, driver its not fit for the road you have a defect he wont give jack ■■■■ when it happened better just park up.

We would all be better to stay at home.

I got stopped with a headlight out (was working 30 minutes previously when checked) but to be fair, they didn’t get stressy about it, just pointed it out to me. I changed it there and then. They said I didn’t have to but I said “No, s’alright, gets it done” They also had a word about my mode switch and I said "Tssk, yes, I’m always getting told off about that, but as I keep explaining to you people, it’s an automatic tachograph  " and they were alright about that too.

To be honest, I think a lot of drivers fail the attitude test when they are stopped, but I always give them a big smile and a cheery “Morning, how are you gents today?”, chat away with them and co-operate with them and so far that seems to have cut me a little slack here and there over the years.
