Been driving a Volvo for 1st time ever the past few days. A 22 reg.
But what is this needle I? thought it was the oil level…
But it keeps moving to low then back up checked the oil and it has plenty.
Is it maybe oil pressure needle?
We don’t have a workshop to ask so duno what it is as said checked the oil and it’s fine

Done that checked dipstick and level is fine.
Check it every morning.
1st day drove it yesterday needle went in the red well I say in the red. It More goes to about where picture shows so pulled over checked it again was still full.
Had a feeling was oil pressure needle.
Not like it means anything to me.
Guessing if it goes high there’s a problem
If its going into the red I’d be getting it checked, could be a faulty sender but if not it could be an expensive fix
Yes,it should rise when the engine is running,unless the engine is in bad condition,it would only go about halfway up
The oil can symbol is on or next to, the red warning light in your car, which goes out (hopefully) very shortly after you start the engine. Yet you are not asking what the gauge above it relates to? and this almost certainly is not in your car.

No, it works the other way around. You want it high. If it goes into the red there’s a problem and if it’s going into the red on idle then unless the sensor is broken the engine is knackered, especially if when driving it only goes to where it is on the gauge.

When driving usually goes to about 3/4s way up dips down a.bit at times then back.up again.
As say at 1st thought was for oil level. As that use to driving a man having to look at menu settings to check the oil. Been years since seen a needle .
