Volvo FM 09 Oil & Air Issuse!

Hi, can anyone shed some light on a problem we have?

Its an 09 Volvo FM, recently it has began popping up with the red stop warning for oil pressure but this is only when the gauge decides it wants to work! We changed the oil pressure switch last week(and last year) and have checked all the levels. Also the air gauge will all of a sudden drop off down to 0 with the air tank 2 warning and the red stop warning in the middle. The problem is the truck still has air, even if you check the digital air display while this is on it shows the sir system is full. The warning may stay on for a minute or 2 then the gauge jumps back up and all is forgotten, well for 20 minutes anyway!

Dodgy ECU?

I assume you’ve checked the oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge screwed into where the switch goes and not just changed the switch?

Silly question but you are changing the right pressure sensor aren’t you? There are 2 oil pressure sensors on the 11 and 13 litre engines. I would also check the engine ecu plug for oil as the sensors usually leak oil back through the harness and it sits in the ECU plug.

As for the air gauge problem if you take off the drivers side quarter panel there are 2 air pressure sensors for no1 and 2 air gauges. When one of these fails it gives the symptoms you describe.
