euromat: blimey harry!!! although does this mean you have a working scanner now?
Yep, can’t find the pics now tho!
This tractor was driven from new by the late Roy “Bull” Davies it is rumoured that Roy had a full set of Optics at the back of the cab for the isolated times he wasn’t parked up near a CIU club !! Roy could tell you where you could find the cheapest and best drams of whiskey throughout the UK no danger !!
Sorry about the Scania but it is a superior motor after all .Bewick.
Here is a picture of the inside, not a lot of room on the bunk, because it’s always been a driver training truck it’s never been used. I do like how the dash curves round the driver but the seat never goes back enough for Long drivers.
Never driven one myself but remember quite a few tippers round Oxon. W.R Cross had a smart pair of 8wheelers that nearly always ran for Bucks Aggs, Mervin Hill from Oxhill had one that was always looked after. They always carried a good payload, Merv Hills carried over 21tonnes and Cross’s practically 21. C&W Knight of Fenny Compton were once virtually all FLseries, had 8wheelers from FL7 to FL10 these had good payloads aswell. Probably due to ground clearance was the fact I rarely saw one with a muck body. Tuckwells bought an ex J Curtis FL10 on an F reg to replace an E reg FL7 they had from new. Chris Hayters were running several FL10s until last year, used a lot on the Witney-Haddenham run.
They were a great truck and most of the complaints were about the size of the cab for lots of nights out. But this wasnt volvos fault it was companys not shelling out the extra for an f10 or fh
i drove this fl10 360 from when it were 6 month old id do 5 drops in london on a monday and thursday and the rest of the week id be up to hull and back to tamwoth or rickerby and lee,s place in lowmoor bradford.it was my first artic lovlely lorry, this pic was taken after id left and the driver never looked after like i did
Wincanton are still running a small fleet of FL’s on the BP LPG contract, they inherited about 7 of them. They work out of the Perth and Newcastle depots. Cracking little trucks, these only do light work now mainly with single axle trailers.

The truck got alot of bad press in its early days & as mentioned a lot of operators replaced there F10s with the FL(less expensive & lighter) which didn’t go down well with the drivers - esp those who did nights out , remember my first outing in one & the annoying electronic buzzer/warning thing that drove me nuts

yes that buzzer, the fault was mostly the grill switch’s,a driver came in one day and said i have fixed mine good, how did you do it. …stabbed the ■■■■■■■ buzzer with my knife and lot of
I had an FL7 tipper for a few years and quite a lot of others I knew had 7’s and FL10’s on quarry work. I loved mine, it was a brilliant truck for that particular application. Quick, quiet, light, reliable and comfy. It was also surprisingly good on-site, especially on soft ground, empty or loaded. A regular 14 to the gallon as well, on the motorway! It was a very relaxed drive after all the donkeys I had had previously, and there were many!!
