Hi,
I drive a 2yr old volvo fh and for some reason when I take the keys out and lock the doors (when I’m inside it) it kind of isolates itself, turning off all instrument panels, night heater, 12/24v adapters, ect. Is this a volvo thing.
Thanks
Don’t know if its specifically Volvo but its certainly “normal” for a Volvo to isolate itself if you take the keys from the ignition. The amount of time for isolation will vary and is, I believe, changeable via a Service Centre. They will be able to change the settings and set isolation to ,say 20 minutes after keys are removed.
My question is though, “why are you taking the keys out of the ignition when you are in the truck?”
This is when im parked on a night, and it has only just started doing it. I’ve always took keys out of ignition and placed them an dash.

So, something must have changed.
Maybe

Some one has adjusted the settings?
Or possibly the batteries are not as healthy as they once were, and the truck is shutting down to protect them, and ensure there is enough juice to start in the morning?

My thoughts too. Keep `em in the lock, see what happens then.
This might not work but worth a shot.
There is an isolation switch on the passenger side just above the front wheel. This should be in the up position. Press it down to isolated and leave it for a min then flick it back up.
That might sort the issue out.
If you take the keys out the ignition it will cut the power out. Same if u open the door with the keys out.
If you are in the cab then its best to leave the keys in. Also you can try chaging the vehicle settings from the screen.

Try doing a hard reset. Take the key from the ignition, press the hazard light once then straight away press and hold until you hear a click (if I remember its from the fuse box area), once you hear the click leave the key out of the ignition for more than 2 minutes, then put your key back in the ignition.
See if that resets anything. If it doesn’t then any service centre can re-programme the system.
My advice for what its worth is just leave the keys in the ignition when your parked up.
Mine cuts out after 2hrs. Just leave key in ignition on position 1

All V4 “isolate” or put systems to sleep on key removal, can be changed at dealership using vemis.
It’s done to lessen the chance of flat batteries,.
You ^^^^ certainly went to sleep upon key removal last Monday morning! I considered taking a picture but resisted

I was tired, I’d Driven for a whole hour, same as I’d done this morning when you saw me… It’s a stressful job.

This works if your Bluetooth throws a wobbly and your phone doesn’t connect. Trust me as I know on my V4 it often does that, however check your fridge as the reset described above by Barrykam, also turns the fridge off.
