Volvo fh 12 440

as above anyone had a ticking noise coming from engine under acceleration? im thinking a cracked manifold ■■

Ticking noise when under load would probably mean exhaust manifold gaskets. If replacing yourself there is a particular method of retightening the manifold to make sure it won’t start blowing again

Is it just when cold? I find them noisy when cold but go quiet after a minute or 2.

My volvo engined Renault makes this noise when cold too. I’ve been told its the exhaust brake operating to help warm the engine up quicker and help reduce white smoke when cold.

I hope it is’nt cos your turbo will be effed in no time if the exhauster is on while the egine is revving

No. It cuts the noise out if you blip the throttle or put it in gear.

no its the same whether its cold or at normal temp i think it is the manifold gaskets that seems to be the general answer from most people
