boris:
Anyone know what this one is ( the LHD , fuel tank , hubs & position of stack & reg year say its an 89 ,but with a 240 grill ■■?

IMO it’s an F88 as they were still being produced for Mainland Europe long after they ceased production for the UK. Also the TD120 motor in the F89 had a much larger sump pan than the TD100 in the F88.
hey Iaurie, yoy have right you don’t see the big sump pan if has been an 89.
But I think that I have a pic of an 88 right hand drive 88 with a small black grille,I will search it if you want.
Is there onbody who has such pic’s in the UK ■■?
Erik , the late model 240s had small plastic grill & small diameter hubs , then the 290 replaced this model ( with the wide ‘fat’ grill ), but both models had the aircleaner stack on the nearside
This is a shot of the only oddball Volvo we ran,it is stood here in the yard prior to being painted,I bought it off a dealer coupled to a near new PSK Crane Fruhauf 40footer.It had belonged to a West ■■■■■■■■ farmer who had, apparently, thought there was some easy money to be had as a haulier Anyway,it was a good deal although(apart from the poxy hubs) it was the trailer I was mainly after, the Volvo had spent the first part of it’s life at W H Malcolms.Cheers Bewick.
Remember those wheels were a pig to get off the spigots till one day some chap showed me how to use the handle bit of a breaker bar against the spring and use the power steering to push it off turning the wheel as this was done, once off we found a liberal coating of copper slip grease made the job a lot easier the next time round, cheers Buzzer.
Best batten down the hatches Dennis it’s coming your way and it’s blowing tidy.
Hey boris, thanks because lots of this has already been discussed.
But in Britain the wippers stayed longer on the top of the cab,but why was it obligated by low or■■?
From the end of '69 we had them at the bottem (model '70)
Hey, an other of Steward, strange still with the small mirror arms but already with the straight flaching lights.
A pic I got ones from a British collecter in a factory where I loaded. He told me he had loads of pic’s from the '60’s and '70’s,but never seen him back .
tiptop495:
hey, '73 or '74 240 F88 with normal air intake.
Cheers Eric,
Hi Eric & Tiptop , did they continue to build/sell the 240 in europe as the 290 replaced it in the UK in late 74 ? If not what 88 did the rest of europe have ?

This was discussed on the F89 thread. IIRC, small-grille TD100A F88s continued in Europe until the end. UK had wide-grille TD100B 290s and 250s, with sloping lower panels, from 1975. This may be wrong!
Hey, if there is someone who wants to know how the 4951 tiptop and F88 had been deliverd in Europe (Belgium) let me know. So you can identify the year of manifacture.
I will show it with fotoshopped pic’s.
Seeing those pictures together, there can only be one answer: between 1970 and 1975, the wipers could be anywhere. Maybe the more modern lower mounting position was an added-cost option?

Hi Anorak , i was reading an article in the CM archive dated 1970 where i noticed a LHD with them bottom mount , as i thought it was in 73 ( the last chrome grill models ) when they moved - but after image research who no’s
