Guy my dad drove for years ago did a sleeper conversion on an F86 8 wheel tipper by grafting the sleeper of an 88 onto the back creating an F87 .looked well

Lets see a picture then Steviemoy

no night heater, most drivers today would cry :open_mouth:

I got the rear of the cab welded up today and am very pleased with it the new part of the panel curves to the wheel arch as it should,I have just painted it with primer to stop the new metal rusting,I will get the hole cab shot blasted when the welding is finished

That was well done Philip!

Lars-Gunnar

Looking good

Hi I’ve done a bit more work on the truck,The passenger door, I got the 10 mm steel plate lazer cut to the size of the door panel then cut a peice of 20swg sheet 10 mm bigger than the steel then bent the edges down,
I cut the panel from the door the repaired the edge of the door then painted the frame before fitting the lower panel

I ran the panel through the english wheel to put some curve in both directions the crimped the edges and welded the top part of the panel

Then refitted it to the cab

So I think it looks abit better than when it first came

Hi Philip

Cracking restoration, proper job,

Regards

Doing a great job . Can’t wait to see the final paint . My dad loved the little F86 he drove . Heres a picture of it . Tony

Well, I’ve gone back to just that, after 9 years of retirement, and loving it.

Of course sleeping bags are very old hat, I have a double quilt, so under as well as over me, and a really comfy foam mattress. Toasty

Strangely, last week I was up north :unamused: in Brittany and it was so warm that I had more than one window open. The following night just outside Cahors, nearly 200 kms south of where I live and it was freezing, hard, took 15 minutes to de-ice the windows in the morning while I packed up my gear before going into the resto for breakfast. I woke once in the night, seemed a bit chilly so I snuggled back down with the quilt covering the top of my head, only my face showing, and that did the trick. Slumber till the alarm. Wonder if I should invest in a nightcap

Thought this one was a tidy example.

4 Volvo badges thats just gready.I’ve done a bit more welding on the door but no photos yet .
will keep you posted as I go on.
Phil

Try 5 Volvo badges!!!

Not strictly a F86 but this little gem from 1964 has almost the same cab, I say almost because someone out there will find something.
Anyone know anything about it or the company, I think you’ll agree, a nice 4 wheeler back then.
