Volvo F4 / F7 models , all gone?

I served my apprenticeship at the local Volvo dealers when the F7 was the popular fleet choice . I remember the FL4 being introduced into this country too. As has been said they were heavy, thirsty, smokey and they used to rev their little nuts off. IIRC they would rev up to nearly 4000 rpm :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: . They were a nightmare to try to cure the smoke as we had to remove the fuel pumps and send away for sorting, they never seemed any better when they were refit  and I think they were the first Volvo trucks with disc brakes as standard but I stand to be corrected on that one, it was a long time ago

That brings back memories drove one regularly part time a bit underpowered and under braked but good in a tight spot.

One from Barnard Castle truck show year before last.

Dont think ive ever seen an F4 in this country, i know they didnt sell many FL4’s because they were very thirsty and to heavy for a 7.5 tonner, though there is still one FL4 plodding around Colchester at the mo.
