I really like Holland and Belgium. Feels a bit like home but also different enough to be worthwhile to visit. The people are friendly and generally like the Brits, and are pretty easy going. They also speak, as a rule, very good English. In Holland in particular, the women are tall and blonde and hot
Bad points: Belgium is a bit dirty - quite a bit of dog ■■■■. Mind you Blighty’s pretty dirty in places too
What you find is the shop keepers will tip soap suds out on to the pavement and scrub the bit outside their shops.
The bus doesnt take you to centre it takes you to train station where you can get a train to ostend for about 3euros have a better time than brugge.then when day is over tram back to zeebrugge get off at the stop before the chinese restaurant go in monte carlo cafe open 24/7 /365 days of year and get taxi back to ship better thab a day in brugge
If you are going there by coach you will probably get dropped off at the drop off point to the south of the city, coaches are banned from entering the city unless they are staying at a hotel within, even then they have set routes to take.
From the drop off point to the south, it’s near the river, head straight over the wooden bridge and through the park. keep following your nose, you want the canal on your left as you enter the old city, turn left into a road called ‘Walplein’ and then a couple of hundred yards on the left is
WE were in Brugge last week for four days, brilliant place would go again and probably will. Took Motorbike and visited Ghent and Ypres. Did the Hull to Zeebrugge ferry not a bad service at all. They speak Flemish in the north and French in the south. Belgium has always been a country of two halves. Found Brugge in particular to be one of the cleanest places I’ve visited. The weather was a tad on the warm side between 33 and 35. Bit on the hot side for me, now my heads peeling, forgot to take my hat.
Went to Ypres fro the remembrance service and to visit the Flanders Field Museum both well worth going to.
The First World War cemetries are worth going to,there are many Uk coach operators that cover this area.Or hire a car if staying longer than a day in Brugge.
Make sure you try ‘Palm’ beer - it’s the best! Previous posters have covered the main ‘to-do’s’ there. We love Bruges, generally go once a year (got rellys in Oostende) and never get bored.
