I just watched this TV programme that almost brought tears to my eyes.
The Chairman Colin Drummond put his overalls on and went to work as a new recruit. The main thing I saw was the crack a driver was having with some staff while Steptoe struggled with a bin.
The agency bloke who met his wife on the recycling line and the driver with cancer who was given a free holiday, paid time off for his cancer treatment and a chance to have his own lorry back.
The facilities at one site were disgusting and I thought he was going to fire the manager, instead he gave them 25k for improvements.
I was most impressed by his comments about agency staff by asking how someone who is there one day and not the next be trained properly, my point as well for years, at least the guy was given a full time job.
Great programme, next week is Crown International, Removals & Storage.
Yer it got to me aswell wheel nut.
the bin driver seemed a good laugh and the driver with cancer, well a strong willed bloke.
Hopefully, although he cant be cured he enjoys life to the full and dont suffer to much like many do with that evil disease.
Have watched every one of these in the series, brill watch!
The guy with cancer deserves a medal, can’t see there’s anyway I’d be able to have his attitude if put in the same situation to be honest. What a bloke!
The manager of the filton depot seemed like a right [zb], should’ve sacked the smarmy git.

chears me dears !!! will watch it when i get back my laptop is quite slow up here!!
Don’t know what this programme was called as I haven’t watched TV for about 5 years now, but there did used to be a programme called “Back to the floor” where co. bosses went back to shop floor level. Sounds similar. Was a huge eye opener for them and a concept I very much agree with. One of the reasons why when I’m working as an LGV driver anywhere I’m always offering to taker transport office staff out for the day. Sadly I’m never taken up on the offer.
Just watched it, the bloke from Plymouth really got me especially towards the end when he got told about the holiday and he deserved it fair play to him and what an attitude. I was thinking he is going to patronise the poor bloke by offering him a office job or something but the gaffer done a good thing there. I hope he keeps on going for a good while its always the good guys that get horrible illnesses like this.
Next weeks one should be go as well, will be able to give my own little insight into the removal world on Monday for 2 weeks
