So presumably there is the same number of villagers living there while the work is going on, and those villagers are still visiting their local shop.
So the 45 to 70 customers a day he is loosing must be passing trade, i.e. Lorry drivers and the odd rep.
Cant have it both ways
think thats where pentons are based arent they
Is it just me or does the story make absolutely no sense?
First they’re celebrating no trucks and then in the next breath they’re moaning about no-one buying owt from their shops. Forgive me for being stupid but I’m not seeing the connection.

Your right mate!!
So when one of them anti truck villagers’ wants an extension on the side of their house, will they have an issue with a 6wheeler driving through then… I’m sure they’ll be a well worded excuse.
It wasnt a anti truck party , the way i read it , they was having a party to cheer people up after the loss of business and subsequent bad news in the press riots etc
smiler:

I believe Pentons are now in Oswestry but i note some of their older trucks still have Ruyton XI towns still on them
err what was the topic about ? as i got to the BBC News Shropshire web page then got distracted by the 5 minutes with Mel C feature
Broadway residents and traders celebrated when the bypass opened; soon after they were moaning there was a drop in passing trade, and a local garage whinged our lorries based down there were “buying his diesel on the cheap and not buying anything from the shop.” When he stopped selling fuel to sell cars, he rang our firm to ask if we could fill up there to empty his tanks…
Saamon, I’ve buried/reversed over “no more quarrying” signs, when delivering…quarry products to said NIMBYs’ houses
