I asked this question to a driver a few weeks back and was told it takes you out through the car exit and gets you out and up the road a few minutes quicker.
Or it could lead to another dimension maybe? I’ve only followed the exit sign too.

You just get to the motorway a little quicker, no roundabout to negotiate so once you turn right no need to stop or slow down. There is also a fuel station and some parking going out that way.
Sometimes you have no choice but to turn right at the top of the ramp if they are doing roadworks on the ‘normal’ route out and have closed it. I came off there one night and they had switched all the No Right Turn signs to No Left Turn but at least three of the trucks in front of me turned left anyway.
