Vehicle signwriting

Looking at getting my unit either signwritten or stickered up in the next few months and just wondered which one is better - signwriting or stickers? Also what sort of money are you looking at just for basic name, telephone number and a couple of decals on a tractor unit? Is it likely I will be able to see a computer image of the design before it goes on the unit? Not bothering with the trailer. Thanks in advance.

Signwriting or vinyl ■■

Largely depends on the depth of your pockets mate, decide on exactly what you want then get some quotes, professional signwriters do not come cheap !!!

( but it does look far better in my opinion )

Regards Steve.

Vinyl livery is a lot cheaper than signwriting, also, easier and quicker to do

if/when you sell the vehicle, it can be removed, whereas, signwriting would have to be resprayed

Thanks for the replies guys. Do either of you know of any websites which may give me a rough idea of the price of vinyl graphics? Cheers

where are you from?

and how much are you wanting doing?

I reckon you are looking at £100-£150.

my cf and bosses xf got a basic vinyl sign writeing and it cost £600

it cost me £160+VAT for the signwriting on the Renault in July 2009

Based in East Yorkshire mate and just want the basics really - name, tel number, east yorkshire and a few yorkshire roses. Nothing fancy!

as a rough guide, all the livery on the truck, including name, phone number and stripes on both sides and name on the front cost me £130 +VAT

“how much does it cost” really is one of those questions that’s hard to answer, as a rough guide we would charge something like below…

name + tels on each door + name across the front - one colour £80 / one colour + outlines / shadows on name £125

As above stretched across the door and sleeper + address etc £110 one colour / £150

Striping can be a simple job or an arse of a job, depends on the bodylines etc.

Logo’s / images: anything is possible but complex multicolour stuff takes computer time (lots of it)

Quite a few sample prices on my website to give an idea of what you get for your groats (bearing in mind, signmakers prices vary wildly, sometimes we think we are giving it away & other times the customer wants 75% discount !)

Various programs used by different signmakers but all of them should be able to show either a vehicle outline or full picture on the screen with the lettering overlaid. I use signlab & it’s pretty simple to export it as a pdf for email to customers.

With vans, i usually use vehicle outlines because they are all much the same. With trucks it’s sometimes better to get a pic of the vehicle & work on that (taking into account existing colour schemes etc.)

if you want to email me a nice side on shot of your truck (must be level & square or the lettering looks crap), and the info you want on it, I can do something for you to throw in front of a local signmaker - tht makes their job easy & saves you money

If i can offer any more useful advice, just ask
