VAT on fuel.

I am getting so tired listening to that robbing git of a chancellor justifying his reasons for not cutting the tax on fuel; it really is starting to annoy me that I have to work for 1 hour every day just to pay for the fuel to get to my work and back.

Well, Mr Thieving Brown; here is a good reason for cutting the tax… As it is just now, you add duty at about 47 pence per litre, THEN you add 17.5% VAT. Why should WE pay tax on fuel duty? So at £1.00 per litre [as diesel is here], it is made up like this: Oil company/petrol supplier gets 38p, duty of 47p is added, then VAT at 17.5% [14.9p] giving a total of 99.9p.

Now if you were to do the fair thing and add VAT before duty, it would be made up like this…Oil company/petrol supplier gets 38p, VAT added at 17.5% [6.6p], then add your rip off “duty” of 47p. Total price 91.6 pence.

So stop conning us, and you could cut 8.3 pence off the price of a litre.

Now, how do I find the "chancer"lors e-mail address??

Al.

I’m with you Alcraw62. He is a rip off merchant and the sooner he is out of the ‘picture’ the better :imp:

His budget already fails to add up though, so for every penny of tax he cuts from one place he has to add it back somewhere else, so it’s a complete waste of time trying to get it cut as it’ll just come back to bite you on the bum sooner or later.

I would love to know what he does with all this money he cons out of us, since all you ever hear about is cut-backs in all areas of public services; whether it’s the NHS, Police, building new roads [or even filling in holes in existing ones], or whatever, “there is NO money”.
It can’t all be getting wasted on the welfare state since [allegedly] unemployment is now at its lowest for years. That must mean more people are paying tax, so where is it going Mr Brown you kieving thunt !!

It’s for his entourage of Jags and his Pie Fund.

Who were the idiot’s who voted them back in again…

Tories wouldn’t have done any better though. :unamused:

Well just as a matter of intrest and comment, the Treasury has a book called the Yellow book, it is the complete record of taxation levied by the treasury, this book is 9000 pages in total, and has taken nearly 200 hundred years to compile the shocking statistic though is that according to Radio 5 live Wake up to Money 0530- 0600 weekdays, it has nearly doubled in size in the last 8 years :open_mouth: :open_mouth: . Its a wonder Gordons had the time to get married and father a child :open_mouth: at that work rate.

Like i keep reminding everyone…we are not a united transport force…if we were it wouldnt matter how much the fuel or duty on it was…for we could just pass it on…and keep passing it on…the government would then realise that it was pointless to push the cost up…for it would lead to higher inflation…unfortunately…the likes of the RHA…do absolutely nothing for our cause…when Lord Sainsbury…Lord Tesco…Lord Asda…Lord Morrison…Lord Somerfield…meet the government as representatives of the transport industry, they report to Tone that all is well…we all know it isnt…for the Lords above dont represent the general Picture…they make their profits from the fuel they sell…the goods they sell in their supermarkets…so it wouldnt matter to them if diesel was £10 a gallon…but these morons are supposed to be on the committee of representatives of our transport industry…and that my friends will never change…unless we do…

Nobody seems to be mentioning the fact that the major oil companies are making in excess of £432 per second profit !!!

So if they are making that much whats the government making?.

VAT on fuel is not a problem, if you cut the tax it would go on something else. The hauliers and self employed can claim the VAT back. Everything you buy has VAT levied on it.

The Fuel Duty is the problem,

Even the major oil companies making millions is not a problem. Its not all profit from fuel, the filling stations are not making huge profits, the oil companies make profits from exploration, development and drilling.

Royal Dutch Shell make profits while fuel is cheaper in Holland.

This Labour Government is so far in world debt that even if fuel was £2 a litre we (Britain) would still have to borrow money to pay our way.

Get them voted out ASAP

1st thing is we as a democracy demand proper schooling and proper health facilities for us and our nation. We then demand things, like a certain standard of living for all our civilians! Then we demand that the people who have to supply our demands do if for less money than they got before when we weren’t happy! Come on chaps if we want to live in one of the worlds richest nations with the freedom for all our people and at the same time remembering that we as a nation have other responsibilities then yes we have to pay for it and if it wasn’t via fuel it would be via other means! But remember our demands as one of the most powerful nations in the world has to be paid for. It don’t matter the cost of a gallon, because were quite a lot better off than most other nations, but that’s also the 1st thing we always forget.

I believe Holland is the only place in Europe at the minute where fuel (unleaded petrol) is actually MORE expensive than in the U.K.

aaroadwatch.ie/eupetrolprices/ See here.

Diesel prices in Belgium and Luxembourg dropped today. Garage I use in Belgium, yesterday 113.8 cents per litre, today 109.8 cpl. In Luxembourg a colleague filled up yesterday and paid 94.5 cpl, today another one filled up at the same garage and paid 89.5 cpl.

Any idea when that starts then?, ive been paying for it for so long i just wondered when the proper health facilities start?.

I cant get to see a doctor in my home town, i am waiting 4 months to see a dentist, my mother is 80 this year and has been waiting 18 months to see a specialist about a hip replacement, Phney Blur said people would only have to wait 6 months for operations in this country he didnt tell us you would have to wait 18 months top get on the ■■■■■■■ list!!!..

How much has that new stupid ■■■■■■■ statue cost in Trafalgar Square? what a complete and utter waste of money, i can think of people who deserve a statue far better than some the woman it depicts.

much, much more - as they “make” more on a litre in duty than the oil company’s cut (who’s 38p isn’t pure profit of course, they’ve got to get it out the ground and refine it, transport it, sell it etc) with no actual direct costs

not sure if the £432 per second you mention is collective, but even if it is gordie is still raking in more than them as all the companies’ fuel sold here is taxed by him (well most of it  )
