Trubrit:
Nice pictures…that first Thornhill reefer (night shot) is that a
Scammell with a sleeper? I have never seen that before.
Nor me, a Michelotti sleeper, was it a one off or did I just miss them - like I did
this one 'till Trubrit pointed it out?
I liked the 2 steel cabbed Fodens of Matlock Transport and Wheildon’s. I had
one with a 220 ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ 12-speed (what a marvellous gearbox) as an
artic powder tanker on K&M Hauliers of Bulwell (later and still now, I think,
Hucknall).
A very good motor and a very good job - 'till it went less good.
BD my dad drove for Brennan and Murphy civil engineering contractors based in Small heath ,Birmingham iirc till the late 80’s then he went back upto Scotland and drove for the forestry commision till he retired in 2004
Excellent pics there BD and thanks so much for sharing them with us…i like the name plates on the Leyland “DEFECT DAN” wonder why he had that name!!..i bet the fitters loved him
