Mrs Hippy is wanting to give up smoking and the answer may be having a go at vaping. Any advice on what vapey thing gizmo to buy and where from, the same for the liquidy stuff would be most appreciated.
if you have a dig through the health and family thread , there was quite a discussion on the subject andy , dave
Don’t buy a cheap as chips one, they work badly and often leak.
This is a reasonable starter battery Innokin VV4 (Mrs DearBoy uses one)
With something like this as a starter tank Aspire Nautilus
I use a Sigelei 50watt box mod with an Aspire Atlantis V2 tank which the other half finds too big and heavy. I love it as it produces huge clouds of vapour.
A lot of folk start off vaping tobacco flavoured e-liquids (as did I) but I’d recommend going for a flavour she really likes. I’d recommend UK or US produced liquid not the cheap Chinese imported stuff with no quality controls. I mix my own, it’s dead easy and very cheap.
Probably a good idea to visit a local vaping shop (such as Midlands Vaping in Dudley) where they’ll let you try out some equipment and flavours before you buy.
Good luck to Mrs Hippy.
There was a news article on the radio yesterday,I only caught a snippet of it,but it seems that most vaping products contain some toxic ingredient or summat
Let’s face it,today, anything that can make a fast buck is likely to be dodgy.
I’m old enough to remember Thalidomide being a wonder drug

It’s the Diacetyl debate again. It, along with another chemical called acetyl propionyl, is used as a food flavouring in creamy, buttery tasting foods such as popcorn. They are generally regarded as safe when ingested but not so when inhaled. Inhalation of very large amounts is linked to a condition known as popcorn lung, note very large amounts. Guess what is present in cigarette smoke at a concentration 100 times higher than these ‘toxic’ levels in e-liquid? Yup, Diacetyl. Acetyl propionyl is also in cigarette smoke at around 10 times the level detected in some e-liquids. Are cigarettes thought to cause popcorn lung? - No, one of the few diseases not to be associated with tobacco smoking.

While it is true that vaping is a new phenomena, mostly untested and still unregulated these health scare stories have been blowing up periodically (usually from America) for several years and so far not one has held water. For the ultra cautious the 2 flavourings I mention are avoidable - stay away from creamy, buttery, custardy flavours and/or do a little research and buy liquids/flavourings from reputable UK/US suppliers who test their products for these chemicals and publish the results. For the outright paranoid vape liquid with no flavourings added, just nicotine.
The US tobacco industry must be losing billions, not that they would have a motive to inject these stories into the media…

I am wanting to give up the ■■■■ so want a nicotine substitute, I am not wanting to give up on me custard creams or the same filled do-nuts
