Van Steenburgen

Anybody else noticed they seem to be getting more and more of them? Seem to have come from nowhere,

Twas always so, it probably depends on the price of steel as to which way they are heading, they did and probably still do employ British drivers, certainly a lot of work into Ireland.

I am note sure whether the company is related to Rik Van Steenbergen the quite quick Belgian cycle racer.

Who are you on for skids?

I work for a firm that pulls trailers for Beauvais International. Night trunking Birmingham to either Beauvais or Aachen.
Boring as hell!

Thinking of trying hatswell up our way to see what they have got! My dad used to work for morgans but doesnt look like they have much!

Ive worked for morgans, Terry rang me a couple of months back offering me a job but I had not long started on this. Its CIGS in Rhyl who I actually work for but contracted out to the Beauvais job.

they were on my list also! dont suppose they need anyone?

No, they have a lad on casual who will take next full time job. Work a bit thin on the ground in North Wales for a while now Ive found. Plenty of agency though for stobbies but its the drive every day to get there for me as i live in Rhyl.

yeah mate i live in rhyl to its a nightmare!

You’d be hard pressed to find many of their driver’s that don’t speak Slovakian. They have a few motors on Irish and Portugese plates, but they are Slovakians.
They have a few on Luxembourg plates too, which normally pull the short coil trailers,I think they are Belgian driver’s.

They also own Q-Trucking (dark green Actros’s) ,which is their Slovakian company.

They have undercut some of our work from the steel works in Genk.

I never knew Q trucking was owned by van steenburgen, you learn something everyday :open_mouth: i see loads of them about.
i had noticed though that v.s. were nearly all slovaks.
whats the deal with so many trucks being plated in lux? small country but hundreds of trucks and even more cars, see them everywhere

Cheap road tax in Lux I think.Used to be quite a few private cars around here on Lux plates, but the Belgians clamped down on it,but I suppose it’s a bit easier with a truck if you have an address in Lux.
Even Brian Yeardley used to have trucks registered in Lux,with private BY plates too.

Must be a lot quieter than it used to be. We run their Bristol depot but nothing happens nowadays. Danny does most of it but sometimes drops stuff off for us to deliver. We’ve not done a night trunk to them for about 3 years. A lot differant from years ago.

The only thing i know about this company is that 1 of there Mercs hit one of ours head on in Enderby about 2 years ago… !
