No direct experience of Van Elle but I worked for a piling company years ago and still in more general plant movement business so a generic insight.
Money will probably be decent enough but it won’t be a cushy easy job.
Piling rigs are hugely expensive things to operate as have lots of personnel and other plant that operate around them. Unlike a digger or forklift if it stops working then you can’t just whistle up another one to do the same job.
When it breaks down / stops working for whatever reason the company will be bleeding money and it will start to impact the rest of the build process. For that reason getting it going again becomes number 1 priority and expectations start running high. If you are moving ancillary equipment then you will feel that pressure most.
I’ve seen they are after a low loader driver so it probably wouldn’t be quite as bad, however the job will still revolve around that rig and if it running late from stoppages they’ll still want it operating on the next job asap.
On the plus side of moving piling rigs is that they usually have a regular crew who drive and operate it so will help load it and usually the rig travels on its own with all the other equipment travelling on separate vehicles.
As I say I can’t speak for Van Elle but that is generally how most piling companies operate.
If the auger is turning then they are earning. If it stops then god help you
