BIG MAC:
you should try taxi driving, although your not driving every all of the time,12 hr shifts are not un heard off,as for fri sat night they can be over 15 hrs in a day.
Yeah forgot about them, do they have to undergo any driver training or testing?
Can we leave that can of worms please
But to answer to you question No they just apply to the local council for the badge ( they might have to answer some question about how to get from A-B local area
Another question for you van drivers! Say you have a company van/pickup with trailer on and its over 3.5t does that vehicle need to be fitted with a tacho or are you still ok with a log book due to uk domestic hours?

First question to ask is -
Is the JOB being done with that set up exempt from EU regs?
If the job being done with a van & trailer which is over 3.5 tonnes combined weight is not exempt from EU regs then a tacho must be fitted and used
The point of the tacho is to record driving under EU regs - there is no such requirement under domestic regs

Yes you need to use a tacho, and if say you use the trailer on monday but not the rest of the week you still need to use it, although say you only pull the trailer on a thursday, you then only have to use the tacho for the rest of the week, but need a weekly log to show what you’ve done before.
