Vacuum Tanker Driver (sewage)

Hi i,ve just got my first driving job.
its as a vacuum tanker driver  collecting sewage :frowning:

Any advice , money seems good and great sociable hours.

Could do with some tricks of the trade , on how often i am gonna get a face full of sewage ?

"Where theres muck , theres luck " lol

That job ■■■■■ :stuck_out_tongue:

Never done sewage but have seen blokes who do for Colt International in Hull. They spend a few nights out away in the cab, sometimes double manning.

Wouldnt want to put you off though

Welcome starlocation
a job such as you describe was going begging for a long time in the Leicester area - perhaps it is smelly :exclamation:

yep rog is right there has been one going in st helens for about 3 months or so :open_mouth:

That job sounds like a load of crap. :unamused: As is my advice…no experience in the area I’m afraid.

Hi

Not many ■■■ excavators then.

The boss seems ok and i,m being paired up with another driver for 3 weeks training - on FULL PAY

i had a look in the class c wagon and it looked like it had a range change ?
is this common?

Cheers for the replies so far

My Mrs said i stank of ■■■ after my first interview with them,
i only had the interview in the little chef
so i must have been so nervous i ■■■`d myself lol

yep its common usually 4 flick switch another 4

I have seen a few adverts for BP McKeefry driving Slurry tankers for local water authorities.

Think they are outbased jobs and probably a steady number!

thanks for the comments

Seems steady work , also i get £50 per emergency call out as well as £8 p/h

As long as it washes of i dont mind
She has to do all the washing though lol

i,m of to bed now have to try and get use to 4.30 am starts though
after working 14.00 - 22.00 for 9 years in a chilled wincanton warehouse lol.

and no my trusted company Wincanton wouldnt give me a job after passing my
class C + E eventhough i worked for them for 9 years

transports managers quote
"why should i employ you as a driver when i can get a pole on the agency for less money "

Well they are struggling to find Eastern European drivers now
but he can stick ■■■ up his rear end,

he can stick ■■■ up his rear end,

Was that a Freudian slip??

I used to drive the slurry tankers out of Leicester (subbie for the local water authority) and didn’t get ‘covered’ that often. Having said that, our tanks were all gravity loaded into the top and gravity emptied (well, connected to a trailer-pump) out of the bottom.

Main thing - always vent the tank or it changes shape a bit . . . . . . . .

had a brb shower in a new treatment plant a few years ago ill for 5 weeks lost a lot of weight if youve got a young family dont bring the job home with u and carry airfreshners

I did this job on agency for a few weeks a while back (water authority contract)

Nice easy number, If you’re shown correctly you should never get a ■■■ shower.
Yes it does smell a bit but you don’t notice after a few days.
I tried to get back on them full time but there was no vacancys so ended up back on tippers
