This is a shot in the dark as I don’t like dealing with Agencies they drive me mad with their lies.
I am looking for Class 1 (possibly trunking on nights) work in and around Chesterfield area up to 25 miles on a PERMANENT basis, no LTD or PAYE ■■■■!
I have applied at the following so we don’t repeat ourselves:
GIST - rate too low
Great Bear - waiting for reply
DFDS - rate too low
I am looking for at least £13ph
I currently work at a ■■■■ hole called Eddie Stobart in Doncaster…you may have heard of it…it’s similar to a cattle market and they speak to you like your the animals too!
So if anyone has heard on the grapevine of any such jobs available please let me know as I need to get out of the cattle market asap!
My suggestion would be to place an advert at the truck stop , even it was a small fee , it would be worth it .
Or a free advert in one of the truck magazines , i got three job offers by doing that .
Been on the look out myself incase I get made redundant on the railway work I have at the minute, and can’t find anything in the pay scale you’re looking at, best I’ve found is £12 on proper PAYE agency. Tbh from what I hear Great Bear will be in the same league as Gist on pay scale. Going rate seems to be £10-£12/hour.

There are jobs out there though, I have had work colleges leave for Lidl, Aldi and Wilko all on £14.50 an hour earlier in the year but they are not recruiting currently.
The advert I applied for with Great Bear was £32,000 a year for a 4pm - 4am shift Monday to Friday

Do you mean at store/supermarket level or driving? If driving, Wilko (Wincanton) at Worksop are currently recruiting (regularly too), if you don’t mind working one day of EVERY weekend then it doesnt seem a bad number in terms of pay/hours.

Spoke to WIncanton direct on Monday, all applications are on hold currently as they are rearranging shift patterns apparently and this will then change the renumeration they offer.
Also the DA is in a split shift manual which I have to be honest with I struggle. I’ve only done one other DA in a Class 2 and failed it miserably due to the gearbox…i just have no experience in one and to be honest I don’t want non
That Wilko one just looks complicated as heck and likely you’d be messed about which might explain why they are constantly advertising.
Very odd they do DA in a manual since most of their units look pretty new so surely autos by now. Unless they have TM like the one who spec’d all manuals for COOP (then left).
A few people might be on £14 / hour but thats usually weekends round here. Even our nightshift overtime isn’t that, unless on LTD.

I think your pitching too high for wages, there is plenty of agency work atm for B&Q (Redhouse and Worksop) as it’s their staff peak holiday season
Perhaps at £14ph, around Chesterfield but this is common in Doncaster area, but I don’t think £13ph is out of reach, which is better than my £9.97ph + £15 tax free meal allowance each day (equivalent supposedly to £11)
Ive not seen any advertisements for B&Q but I expect these are agency work thats temporary
I want full time permanent nights.
I don’t know how you guys live with the Agency work getting passed from pillar to post and receiving all the ■■■■■ jobs the companies allocate to you

Despite my limp I’m working regularly Monday- Friday days, and I don’t see no let up in the availability of PAYE work. However I’m at a certain age where I don’t need to keep working and don’t have to ensure that I have a regular income. My relationship with the agency is good & I don’t seem to be ■■■■■■ around

Which Agency are we talking about?
Are they in the Chesterfield area?
I just feel that agency guys get the ■■■■ end of the stick, when I did Class 2 via agency i always did and the guys that come to Stobarts all get the dross
If I told you that I’d have to kill you
1st rule of agency club, don’t tell em who you work for, because the next thing you know You’ll be nicking my job and I’ll be back at the bottom of the ladder.
I have a neighbour who occasionally tries to get me to tell her who I work for as her fella is a driver and is looking for work, and so far I’ve resisted telling her the specifics
Kynszon:

I dunno … probably but where I dunno as chesterfield isn’t a location I work in

I’ve spent a lot of years doing agency & climbing up the ladder, I’ve had my fair share of crappy work, but now I’ve sorted out my position in the pecking order I’m able to pick my start times which are usually Monday to Friday days between 05:00 - 08:00.
Right now there are only 5 of us limpers doing this current contract along with the regular drivers, all 5 of us are getting as much work as we want. Because we do the longer runs the salaried staff drivers prefer not to do. I doubt that it will be £30K a year due to the number of holidays I have, but as have minimal financial overheads I don’t have to flog myself to death to live. This is why agency work doesn’t suit people who have financial commitments such as a mortgage, a family to keep
