I have a driving assessment with a local firm tomorrow, straight after I finish work. I have never used my digi card before but I think I understand how to use it, the only thing I’m not sure about is what to do exactly when I first put it in. I believe I will need to add a manual entry but do I just put the entry as when the assessment starts or will I need to add entrys to cover my whole day from starting work in the morning?
My advice would be…Dont wing it. If you have not used your card before,TELL the assessor.
Worst thing you can do is look out of your depth. Being up front is more likely to show that you are trustworthy.
Try and look on Youtube for some instruction and check out this forum too. Don’t forget,we ALL have to learn stuff!
The assessor will know you’re a new driver and will expect to help you along the way. It comes with the territory and it’s nothing to worry about.
All the best with it, Pete
If you’ve never used your digi card before im assuming your a new pass so if you told the company that then no problems. They’ll be understanding and keep you right.
Good luck.
And dont be like 95% of the others who post about going for jobs, tests etc and then stop posting
LET US KNOW HOW YOU GET ON!!!

Will do.
Thanks everyone for the advice, and well wishes. Bit nervous about the whole thing really but looking forward to it too. Tomorrow is going to be a looong day!
It seems like you have a non driving job in the day, and the first time your new digital card will be used, will be after work.
If that is the case, I would not bother with manual entries.
It is easy to press the wrong button and make a mistake.
If you have not used your card before they sometimes come up with an error when you first insert them. Just remove it and reinsert in to get it to work.
Put it on other work and do 15 minute check
Start and finish
New regs apparently

There is no rule it has to be 15 minutes.
Thanks again everyone for the advice. It turned out that I didn’t need to worry about my digi card as we took out an old unit on a paper tacho.
Most importantly, at the end of it all they offered me a job!!
Congrats Les
If you take the job and you’re driving wagons with paper charts, don’t forget to carry your digi card with you at all times as well.

Wilco. Think most of their stuff is much newer so will be digi anyway but will make sure my card is always with me. Cheers.
I’m a greenhorn too and I must admit that something needs to change with regard to showing new passes how to use tachos. There was literally nothing shown to me about the correct and proper use of tachos during the process of getting my Cat C. Everything I know is what I have learnt myself.
I’ve been passed a month now, signed up with 5 agencies and still no work. I was offered a 7.5 ton shift but when I asked the agency if the client knew that it would be my first driving job (agency should have known) and if anyone would be there to show me what’s what, they rang back and got someone else. Screwed myself there it seems but I was only being honest!
Guess next time I’ll just say nothing, turn up and wing it.
