Using a VDO tacho with a damaged card?

I have got the manual - where do i find out how to operate the DTCO 1381 without the card??

The only page i can find to refer to this is page 38, and that goes on about hand written entires - anyone else know their way around this book?

What do you need to do?

Drive tomorrow - i think i have screwed up my card, its just finished a fast spin !

I am just stressing if i have to driver without my card in tomorrow and thought it would not be a problem casue i have got the operators manual…but i cant see the wood for the trees

I know i have to take a vu printout at start and end of shift, but what about start country and changing modes - and i am not the brightest spark so like to have stuff written down and prepared so i can follow

Don’t you need to report it before you can drive without it ■■

Yes - i know i have to report it, but if i dont take the load in the morning i will be sacked anyway’s (again !) so just trying to make sure i know what i am doing if it wont work.

Report the damaged card to your boss. You then have 7 days to report it to DVLA and 15 calendar days in which you can operate the vehicle.

To get your print out, ignition on, press OK and the first option is usually driver 1 print out. Scroll down (down button) to Vehicle printout then press OK and select the date (it’ll be on the right date). Do this beginning and end of shift.

During the day just use the tacho as normal. press button 1 to select the mode.

make sure the print outs are signed, name, driving licence number or digi card number on the back. Carry for 28 days then hand them in.

I just need to check - but don’t think you can select end or start country … hang on a min

Seems you probably can enter begin and end country - which is a legal requirement anyway.

Again ignition on - press OK. Scroll down to entry driver 1 and press OK. Scroll through to begin (or end) country and select UK. it’ll say entry stored.

Do this before you take your print outs then it should be on the print out.

I’m not 100% sure this will work though as I have the idea this would normally be stored on the card - but there again manual entries are stored on the VU.

Give it a try!!

Thanks mate - your a life saver - I wasn’t looking forward to the sack and being disowned this side of Christmas -

Don’t you need to report it to the DVLA immediately? I thought you had to, to obtain some sort of reference number from them as proof in the event you get a pull.

Report to the loperator straight away. VOSA could check with them I suppose

DVLA you have 7 days but would make sense to report ASAP so more chance of new card arriving on time

Report to DVLA as soon as possible by phone and they will fast track a new card for you. I had to pick mine up from my nearest VOSO testing station and it was only a few days. This was a year or so ago though and things do change.
