Greetings,
I am new to private hire coach driving and am on my first tour spanning a few days. I am in the middle of nowhere, do not have a car and limited by a 15 hour shift spread-over which is being fully utilized.
If at the end of the day I want to go for a short journey into the nearest town to get some shopping is there any exemption which would allow me to use the 22 seat coach for this personal journey which I am not getting payed for since I don’t have access to a car?
My research indicates that I would have to adhere to U.K. domestic rules in conjunction with the EU hours I have been on during the day which leaves me with the same problem of no hours left for my private journey.
Thanks in advance.

I hope you declare the private use of a company vehcile to the HMRC.
You are in charge of your own horse. You do your shopping while getting paid and take the passengers with you, you might be able to sneak it into the trip itinerary and get some tips too
But your research was correct, you are on a rest period, so driving your bus is not resting.
Could you not catch a bus into town?

Next time I might try hiring a car and adding it to my employers expenses along with my meals and accommodation
or don’t you think that might be pushing my luck a bit.
