Can anyone advise me where I can obtain an up-to-date CAP guide or similar to ascertain what price I should pay for a used truck?

You can try the two links below but the best way in ask dealerships: get Commercial Motor or Truck Trader, identify the truck you want and phone three or more to see what mileage they got and service history. Franchised will be more expensive as a rule of thumb over independents but that isn’t always the case.

If you are confident in your product knowledge then scour the auctions; Manheim, CVA, BCA, FLAG or Pro Truck Auctions. Google them and the websites will pop up.
